My 8 month flatcoat retriever sleeps really well in a crate covered with a blanket in the kitchen at present, but she will grow too big for the crate soon and I'm tempted to move her bed into our bedroom for night time. Any thoughts? (she is a bit of a chewer so wary of her being 'loose' in the kitchen)

Oh and very envious of your flattie, OP :)

OP she will probably stop chewing once she stops teething.

On the bed. If you'd told me this two years I would have thought it impossible that I would have such an 'ill-disciplined' dog.... He is so lovely and I don't have the heart to tell him off when he snuggles in our feet in the evening. And snores. My God the noise husband and dog combined...!

I find him fine in the bedroom now that he is fully-grown and has excellent bladder control, he can go up to 9.30am before he'll whimper to bed fed and let out.

My 10-month-old retriever is still in his crate, on one of mil's best Christy bath sheets (if only she knew...) and covered with a nice pair of velvet curtains. Someone remarked, "He's not a parrot." But he was in the habit of waking up at 5am and with the blackout situation he sleeps till 7.15 (on the dot).

In a leopard print bed inside a crate in the living room. Then covered with a dark cover.
