Raw diet.

I never looked back since switching from commercial wet food to raw/cooked home food for my two little boys.
The stool is a lot firmer smaller and less frequent, they are less hyper and more calm, have fresher breath, they are more alert, as well as smooth shiny soft fur.
They always finish and lick their bowls clean.
They still have the odd meal of plain kibbles every now and then.
For me it has been a good thing switching over.
But I am just wondering if there are people who switched and it didn’t work out and what were the reasons?
Has anyone’s pet suffered gastro problems from raw diet? I know their digestive system is shorter than ours and is capable of handling bacteria which are harmful to humans. Any pets suffered from parasite/pathogen problems from raw meat?

can I ask for some advice please? I have a 2kg jack Russell puppy that is eleven weeks old. she small but perfectly formed and healthy.
I have been looking into feeding nutriment. Is it frozen and the you defrost it a kilo at a time? How long would it keep defrosted as it would take her a week to eat that much!
Is she too small to eat raw chicken wings etc? Wouldn't it make her poorly when only used to dry kibble. Sorry if I am being pfb about her but she is so small and young Smile

She isn't too small for a chicken wing Smile. I have seen pics of young chi's and pugs eating them. Just supervise well to make sure she is chewing. If need be keep a hold whilst she eats it until she gets the idea to chew it.

You can partially defrost and pop it back in the freezer. It is pretty easy to scoop a bit out of the tubs after a short time out of the freezer. I haven't used the chubbs yet but I hear a hot knife is useful there! It will keep for 2 or 3 days sealed in the fridge.

I had the opposite effect to it making my dog ill. He had a dodgy tummy on kibble all the time and he did his first ever perfect (little!) poo the next day after switching Grin

You also don't HAVE to feed wings yet either if they make you nervous...nutriment has bone in it so it is a complete diet if that is what you were going to use. They are very helpful if you ring them for a chat

natures menu

Just found this site.
Prices aren't too bad.
Cheap mince that you could use to make your own bespoke meal.

You can buy those in pets at home and Jolleyes too CEvert. I have tried a few of the frozen blocks and do buy the tripe though I find the others a little too mushy for my dogs taste. But they are a good option for anyone considering raw to use as a base to add to who needs something they can pick up in a pet shop.
