Why has my dog started pooing in the house?

My completely house trained 7 month pup has started to poor in the house. She is completely well and there has been no change to her routine.
Yesterday she went to the upstairs landing and pooed there and this morning she went in the kitchen.
Any ideas gratefully accepted.

Hmm. This will not be very helpful, I'm afraid, but it could be anything, or nothing.

Both our dogs peed in a (carpeted, was horrible to clean up) apartment during the six months we lived there. They each did it twice. I have no idea why. It was about the 5th month, so not a new space anymore, and they were 3 and 8 years old, trained long before, perfectly healthy, and their routines had not changed. Neither of them ever did it again. I honestly think that once in a while a dog will just do something out of character.

I do know that scolding in angry tone/pushing nose into poop/whacking with newspaper is not the way to go as that will frighten her and make her more likely to do it again -- you don't want to make her feel stressed about pooping, that will make it harder for her to control herself and remember the rules.

I would say that if you catch her in the act or right after, while she is still right there, tell her no firmly and put her out in the yard even if she has finished.

Oh -- and then when she comes in, give her a treat and praise her.

You might also try making sure that you put her out or walk her right after meals. And if it seems to be happening at any other particular time not associated with meals, put her out or walk her just before that time.

I haven't told her off at all, as i discovered the parcels after the event.

Oh, I didn't mean to imply that you had, just was thinking through it all.

It is harder to deal with if you aren't there when it happens! That's how it was for us when ours were peeing on the carpet -- happened while we were in another room and in each case we didn't realize for hours.

It could simply be that the first time she was caught short and then once you've done it once it can become a habit ,particularly if nobody tells you off , which obviously you are not supposed to . I must admit the one time my dog did a wee indoors after he was fully house trained I did tell him off ( made him sit there whilst I cleaned up telling him how disgusting it was,not shouting !) and he has never done it again . Sorry that's not much help either .
