Old dog advice. Is the the end?

Hello, I need some words of wisdom about my old boy.

He is 13, a cross breed and completely blind (tested for diabetes etc and all clear) he won't go out for a walk he just looks frightened and crouches down so you have to drag him about.

The vet said he had one cataract and one eye with lens damage. Removing the cataract isn't really an option, financially and I think ethically due to his age and the other blind eye.

He is always banging into things which is so sad. Sad

People keep telling me his time has come and I should PTS before he gets worse.

I do feel the he has very limited quality of life now though he still eats well and sleeps peacefully.

He paces around the house bumping into things and picks at his fur making himself bald.

We have tried chews and bones to amuse him but he just ignores them.

Basically I'd like to know what others would do in this situation?

You know him best of all. If there's nothing the vet can do to help there's no point in dragging him to that ghastly place. Life with an elderly dog is hard, heartbreaking work, but they do let us know when they've had enough. We had to have our darling put down in September but she totally let us know it was the right time. Still completely destroyed us and we miss her every second.

Cherish him while you still have him and make him feel secure and cherished (as I'm sure you are). He may not want to be out running for hours anymore but may be content snuggling.
