am I wrong In thinking that if you have a flea infestation and are about to have guests stay you wouldn't wait until day 6 of a 7 day stay to tell your guests who have come with their dog who has never had fleas about said situation.

The only reason I was told is because hosts found a flea on him.

I am beyond furious, courtesy should mean that you tell your guests so they can attempt a preventative measure beforehand or not bring said dog to your house.

I am so annoyed right now and cannot vent to do as its his parents our 6 month old baby is here too Angry I nonchalantly got told yesterday "we've been fighting a loosing battle with them this year. thanks for telling me.

sorry rant over

Don't you use Flea control measures? If your dogs are up to date with spot-on treatments then any fleas that jump on them will die off and most flea preps prevent the eggs from hatching so you wont have a problem. If you don't have any flea control on the dogs well thats not really your hosts fault is it.

Loving the term "host" in the thread title :)

he does get flea controls and while I know any eggs laid will not hatch I still dont want currently live fleas coming in my car and potentially house too when we get home

But it will be one single, or a few fleas, which after they have bitten your dog (poor thing) will be sterile or die before they can breed. They don't live very long. If you are worried, stick another ampule of frontline or whatever you use on the dog, it will be fine, really. They don't carry plague anymore

he was frontlined yesterday morning will do him again before we go maybe and will bath him when we get home . I've calmed down a bit now bit gutted that in his 3.5 year life he's never had so much as 1 flea and within less than a week he was crawling

OK - don't frontline him again, its too soon - it does take about 24-48 hours for frontline to work. Definately do not bath him though as you will strip all the frontline from his fur - you have to wait a week before you bathe after applying. Frontline is good stuff - if you got it from the vets and got the latest version it will prevent infestation at home. Glad you've calmed down. Maybe suggest frontline or similar to the ILs. so many people fight losing battles against fleas because they use crap they buy from the supermarket which doesn't work. They need something that controls them in the house too - which frontline does.
