Pointy hounds include-
Greyhounds (Grunds)
Whippets (Whippys)
Lurchers
Italian Greyhounds (Iggys)
Salukis
Afghans
And any others I have forgotten. If you are a new pointy hound owner, an old and experienced owner or looking into getting one of these fabulous creatures, come and have a seat (that's not taken up with a hound ).

Come The Day
Come the day I take that final bend,
Can I count on you to be my friend?
To see I’m treated just and fair,
It means so much to know you care.

For, what the future holds in store,
Now that I can race no more,
Should be addressed for every hound,
Who parts the punter from his pound.

Tell them I don’t ask for much,
A kindly word, a gentle touch,
Somewhere warm to lay my head,
A meal each day to keep me fed,
Not just life- but quality,
This is how it ought to be.

Do not see me swept away,
I long to live another day,
With peace of mind, tranquillity,
And those who care surrounding me,
So tell them all- you have that choice,
I beg of you to be my voice.

Lola wore her raincoat for the first time today, I had to drag her out but once she got out she was much better than when we go out in the rain normally. Plus as she dries herself on my bed when we get home there's an improvement there too :)

PeanutPatty · 08/04/2014 17:29

Are all the pointies enjoying the sunshine? Blue is not keen on lying in the garden on the hard ground. Should I put something out for him? MrPP will think I'm even more bonkers.

FiscalCliffRocksThisTown · 08/04/2014 17:49

Hard ground? Do you have a concrete garden?

Lol

cinnamongreyhound · 08/04/2014 18:17

I wouldn't bother, Lola lays on our patio in the sunshine :)

CMOTDibbler · 08/04/2014 18:36

cmotdog won't lay on the deck, but is fine on the grass. If we are all outside I take the animal mat out with us. He's been lounging on it just inside the patio doors all day while evilgingercat and the chickens lounged outside.

Is anyone planning on going to the EGLR show in May?

Scuttlebutter · 08/04/2014 18:41

Ooh, yes, CMOT, we'll have the Tent of Destiny there. Smile Am really looking forward to it.

Scuttlebutter · 08/04/2014 18:45

Confession time - it has been known for me to put a duvet out on the patio for a hound if they are out there with us while we are gardening etc. Blush though they do love sunbathing out there without a duvet.

mistlethrush · 08/04/2014 18:48

I sometimes take a vet mat out for the patio which goes down well - in the summer mistledog just stretches out on the grass - and takes herself to a shady part of the grass if too hot.

Bit far for us CMot I think - what date is it?

Cinnamon - which raincoat have you got?

CMOTDibbler · 08/04/2014 18:52

Its May 25th Mistle - you'd be very welcome to come and stay with us if you wanted

cinnamongreyhound · 08/04/2014 20:58

This one :)

Scuttlebutter · 08/04/2014 21:47

Squeeee! Ooh, Cinnamon, that looks fab.

mistlethrush · 08/04/2014 22:09

That's another one we'll have to miss (along with the one the week later at Halifax for LL) because we're off that week for half term. Still - looking forward to that - dog had a lovely time last year.

mistlethrush · 08/04/2014 22:10

Cinnamon - that was my favourite fabric of the three - but the one that definitely wouldn't have suited mistlehound... I'm wondering if I can sneek an order in without DH noticing - probably the floral one.

CMOTDibbler · 08/04/2014 22:17

I love that pattern Cinnamon, but DH vetoed it

Scuttle, I think we need more patterns in waterproof Grin

mistlethrush · 08/04/2014 22:20

Cmot - yours would look good in that one too! Was it 'apparently' 'too girly' for DH?

Scuttlebutter · 09/04/2014 00:54
Grin
mistlethrush · 09/04/2014 07:24

Scuttle is that a Grin that that is in hand or a Grin at the photo?

CMOTDibbler · 09/04/2014 07:50

'too lairy' was the argument put forward. TBF, he is not one to call anything girly, and is following MeggieMoo on FB to further the discussion of what collar and matching lead to get Oz next.

mistlethrush · 09/04/2014 07:56

Collar and matching lead! We have mistlehound in a martingale - but that's really because it looks a better width than a 'normal' collar on her - we rarely use it to clip a lead to and normally have her on a slip lead - or a longer one on her harness (a nice, more interesting, slightly less bulky long one might be an interesting thought though!)

PeanutPatty · 09/04/2014 08:56

Oooooh we could come to Evesham!

mistlethrush · 09/04/2014 09:05

Is anyone going to make the LL racing and show on Saturday? I'm glad I booked mistlehound into all 3 distances she runs as that means that she'll get 3 runs - given the runners, she doesn't have a chance of getting through to the final in any of them!

cinnamongreyhound · 09/04/2014 09:44

My dh didn't like it either but seeing as I do 75% of walks I decided :) he said he just won't put it on if it's raining but once she was used to it she was much happier with it on than not in the rain. I'm amazed that Monday was the eat wet walk we've had since it arrived and I ordered it on valentines day!!

We are thinking of going to all about dogs at Easter but not sure about any other shows. We went to the GBGW show last year which was fab and the lady we got Lola from has organised a dog show in August for lurchers near Norwich.

cinnamongreyhound · 09/04/2014 09:44

Or first wet walk even!!

moosemama · 09/04/2014 12:37

Harrumph! We can't make Evesham as we're at a festival that weekend and won't be doing LL either, as it would be two full on weekends back to back and dh says it would be too much driving and expense.

Asked about going to All About Dogs too, but he vetoed that one as well - great big misery that he is. Hmm

Pip really needs to get out and about to places where there are lots of dogs now, so it becomes totally normal for him to be surrounded by them and realises he doesn't actually have to greet every single dog he meets. He's still a little bit worried by some dogs, but tends to be ok when they're up close, just frets when he can see them approaching from a distance - or if, God forbid, they have the audacity to stare at him. (Of course he is staring at them - but apparently that's allowed. Hmm)

Sitting here freezing my bum off despite the sunshine after accidentally giving myself an impromptu cold shower when I was using it to power wash the insides of the kongs. Blush Might have to take the dogs out for another walk just to warm up at this rate! Grin
