Or something like that, anyway Grin

The pupster is a poodle cross, and has had a flare up of this before. I took him to the vet, he was diagnosed and give easotic drops which cleared it up within a few days. Today I noticed his ears were a little red again, and he's started scratching. My friend recommended trying Otodex ear drops which you can buy over the counter, and I picked some up today. Does anyone have any experience of using these drops?

Otitis externa is infection if the external ear canal. Poodles are more likely to develop this as they have very hairy ears preventing air getting in and drying ears out.
Nothing you can buy over the counter has any antibiotics in it so at best things stay the same and at worst the fluid from the drops allows the infection to get worse.
Vets always want to see dogs before dispensing drops to ensure the ear drum is intact as drops and ruptured ear drum can be a terrible mix,

Thanks Lonecat. He doesn't appear to be in any pain whatsoever, is happy for me to handle his ears etc. I cleaned them out with epiotic solution, and got a fair bit of brown/red waxy stuff out. His ears are still a little red, but he's not really scratching or bothered by them. Worth just keeping an eye on for now? No bad smell or anything.
