Oh FFS. Any ideas on how to get dried weetabix out of a poodle?

The pup clearly got into the dishwasher this morning and has managed to cover himself in dripping Weetabix. He then seems to have had a good roll around and has really mashed it in. He has patches of fur/Weetabix which are as solid as concrete and is hiding under the kitchen table. Is there any way to remove it without full on water immersion? He takes forever to dry and what with it being cold, I was hoping to avoid bathing him until the weekend. The spaniel has had a good taste of the poodle/Weetabix hybrid, but has since lost interest.

You could make the most of it by passing him off as a wheaten terrier? They seem like nice dogs.

MrsMcEnroe · 04/12/2013 12:32

A poodle? Made of wool? I think you're going to have to get the clippers out and shear him....

Sorry, but this did make me laugh. After my pup stole an apple from a homeless man this morning I didn't think I'd be able to raise a smile all day, but you've managed it - thank you!

onedogandababy · 04/12/2013 12:34

Scissors or a bath. Perhaps a luxury bath which includes a cool blow dry afterwards??!

needastrongone · 04/12/2013 12:36

No advice but Smile

Our dog is the dishwasher pre-wash!

:o

Sorry for your troubles, but BEST THREAD NAME EVER!

Have you got a friendly labrador anywhere near? Mine regularly lick the carpet clean so would think a poodle would be no problem. May need holding down with a heavy paw though Grin

KringleCandleLover · 04/12/2013 12:49

I will take your cereal infused Poodle and swap you for a Tibetan Terrier that has an arse that resembles a dodgy homemade beefburger poo. This requires nail scissors, latex gloves and a teatowel round the face..

You defo have the better deal..

My next dog shall be a Chinese Crested.

MrsMcEnroe · 04/12/2013 13:00

I have 2 Labradors if you want to send the weetabix-encrusted poodle round to my house for a wash as per cq's suggestion Grin

This thread has really made me smile! I have two dogs - a lab and a lab-pointer cross, who are the dishwasher pre-wash cycle - like needastrongone's dog! Ddog1 - a broad chested brown lab, has often tried to climb into the dishwasher when it is being loaded, and often has dried gunk on her head, where things have dripped on it - she hasn't managed a full coating of weetabix, though - kudos to your dog!!

I would bite the bullet and go for the full immersion experience.

Manchesterhistorygirl · 04/12/2013 13:02

No idea, but you really made me laugh.

SnakeyMcBadass · 04/12/2013 13:03

Oh balls. I was really hoping to avoid the full on bath :( He keeps yawning to try and detach his beard from his moustache. He's going to hate this

I blow dry Bridget, it helps stop her getting matted, plus you have the bonus of a dog that suddenly goes 'POOF', mid blowdry Xmas Grin

SnakeyMcBadass · 04/12/2013 13:56

Pupski objects to the hair dryer. He will tolerate it at a distance, which makes its usefulness negligible. He prefers to roll all over me/the sofa/the rugs to dry off

Only two words

Poodle Parlour.

tabulahrasa · 04/12/2013 15:10

I've never tried to get it out of a dog's coat, but washing's the only way to get it out of toddler hair, so I'm assuming it's the same.

SnakeyMcBadass · 04/12/2013 15:18

Huh. Washing has removed most of it, but a particularly stubborn batch right near the roots is fully integrated with his now matted fur. I might have rubbed a little too vigorously Blush Arse, he's going to end up with a bald patch, isn't he?

Dried weetabix is a totally under-used resource I think. You could build entire cities from that stuff, then it it dry. It would be earthquake proof 'n all.

OneHolyCow · 04/12/2013 16:51

Maybe oil would soften up the cementy weetabix?
Could be great construction material I agree... would be good to test it out on a small village somewhere warm first before subjecting doggy to it!

puggywug81 · 04/12/2013 17:10

Awww your poor pupski, please thank him from me tho I was quite upset today and I am now sat on a packed train sniggering at this fabulously named thread!Grin

coffeeinbed · 04/12/2013 19:33

I thought the weetabix was internal.
Was going to suggest lots of water and extra poo baggies.
