Puppy sitting

Hi, I posted this on another site but only got 1 reply :( Ive copied and pasted it and added a few new questions on the end.

My brother got himself a new puppy which I disagree with for loads of reasons (he didn't tell me he was getting it til it was a done deal, cos he knew I'd kick off) but its done now and as I thought he's asked me to watch it while he and his g/f are at work. I wanted to refuse out of principal but I dont want the poor thing to suffer so have agreed.

Its a bulldog x boxer (really dont like those types of dogs) but hes a cute little thing atm. They brought him round yesterday to make sure Tilly gets on with him (she loves him, though a bit rough so will have to be constantly watched) and the kids love him too so are over the moon to be able to spend a bit more time with him. I'll try to upload a pic in a min. Pick him up at 11.30

I've never had a puppy this young (9 weeks) as I got Tilly when she was 16 weeks, so any tips on how to handle it? I'm assuming i'll have to take it out every 20 mins or so for a pee? He's never actually done a pee outside as they're using puppy pads but dont know if letting him pee inside will send Tilly the wrong message?

Also he kept trying to hump Tilly and was snarling/growling when she wasn't letting him. How can I discourage this if he does it again? (Tilly is spayed)

So day 1 (today) has been tiring. Tilly will not leave the poor thing alone, just wants to constantly play (shes just gone a year so still a pup herself) and I'm not sure what the best plan of attack is. Put Tilly in the kitchen? (Or will this make her jealous as its her territory) or put the pup in the kitchen and have him crying in an unfamiliar place? I have a stairgate on the kitchen door (leads straight to sitting room) but he was still crying when I tried him in there.

He did 2 poos in the house and loads of wees, but was also successful a few times outside. It was hard trying to get the puppy out mid wee without letting Tilly out as she just jumps on him to play and he forgets what hes doing. Plus yelling to dc to not step in the wee...this is why I didnt get a 2nd dog! Lol

Oh and can I give the pup a kong with primula or pate in? Or will it upset his stomach?
Any help appreciated.

You are being a nicer sister than your brother deserves!

The puppy needs to go out very often for toilet, personally I don't use puppy pads they are just confusing. Take him out as soon as he wakes up, after food/drink and as often in between as you possibly can. Praise any toileting outside, and ignore, but clean very well, any accidents inside.

Dogs make a lot of noise when they play, I would let them get on with it unless Tilly really doesn't let the puppy rest at all. I wouldn't react to him humping her or play growling at her, she will sort him out if he becomes a nuissance.

I'm more worried that pup cannot get a name because Tully is constantly on his case. My brother said pup was flat out last night, but before and after he wad asleep he was crying at the door for me. Aww bless! Thanks for replying. I feel like I have to watch him because they also have a huge American bulldog thing (he's like a baby elephant) and they are scared he might hurt it (he attacked my brother a few years back and he needed an operation and everything (that was another reason for him not to het a pup) Hopefully today will be a bit better as I'm starting to get used to his signs for a per etc and gonna take Tully for a nice long walk before I get him to hopefully tire her out a bit.

Sorry for any mistaked, I'm on my phone and can't see as I'm typing.

Im my experience puppies crash and sleep when they need to but if Tully is really full on 100% of the time you may need to separate them for a little while.

The dog put your brother in hospital?! Shock Generally people aggressive dogs are not necessarily dog aggressive dogs, but I would imagine whether this adult dog attacks the puppy would be the least of your brother's problems!
