Using A Dogwalker Question

TooOldForGlitter · 03/11/2013 19:48

So, as the title suggest I am looking for a bit of advice on using a dogwalker. I've just had two blissful weeks off work and Bob has walked probably 6-8+ miles every day. Done wonders for my thighs but thats besides the point Grin.

Am back to work from Weds this week, I only work Weds Thurs and Fri and although my DP works from home he suffers with arthritis in his wrists and fingers which is tertible when he gets cold and so cant walk Bob during day as he cant grip the lead.

Bob is a greyhound so he isnt 'suffering' by having to wait until I get home from work but I was thinking of booking him a half hour walk with a walker while I am at work on these three days.

Question is, and I am aware this may sound pathetic, is it likely to affect his bond with me if someone else is walking him?

TIA

Do you think bob will actually want to go for a walk? He may be looking forward to the rest...

Greyhounds aren't usually the keenest on being dragged off the sofa!

He would defo want to go, although he is lazy when he has to be i.e. nothing much going on, he does love his walks and getting out and about.

Hi TooOld

No it won't affect your bond. It's you that feeds him, grooms him, takes him for the really good walks and it's you that loves him and spends time enjoying his company and lavishing him with love. He knows that, he has already bonded with you and won't transfer his affections to someone else in exchange for a half an hour walk.

We have a dog walker. No change in the bond at all, our dog loves us just as much as always. It was the same with our last dog too. I like to think of someone coming in to give her a big love and take her for a walk Smile

We have a dog walker - she's one of our trainers actually and our dogs love to see her. There is no change in the bond at all and the good thing is that sometimes she also brings one of her own dogs with her so they all have a good run off the lead and a chance to socialise. Smile

I'm convinced then Grin

Thanks all.
