Dog friendly beach for daytrip from Midlands/Warwickshire?

I've been ill all week, so the dogs' walks have been rationed to one a day with dh and they are seriously unimpressed. We were supposed to be going on holiday to Ireland next week, where we would have had lovely long daily beach walks that would have made up for this week - but have had to cancel (see Pet Passport thread).

So, if possible, I'd like to take them to a beach in the UK at least once next week. Don't mind a long day - early start and getting home late is fine, but we'd need to be able to do it in one day from Warwickshire-ish area.

Any suggestions?

The man made beach in Nuneaton? I can't remember what it's called but it's nice and dog friendly

Is it all possible to have at least one overnight? Travelodges take dogs and would considerably improve your stay and yr options. How about either S Wales - Gower for instance has stunning beaches - or area round Pembrey? Alternatively head to N Devon/Somerset - all around the 3 hr mark.

How far do you want to travel Moosemama?

Brean Sands beach is dog friendly, and you have the WWII Fort at the end of the headland that is great as a walk. It takes about 2 to 2 1/2 hours hours from Telford - so would think it was something similar from Warwick.

Is it there all year Glitter - I assumed it was a Summer only thing. Will look it up, thank you.

Not sure about an overnight Scuttle, we already pushed the budget somewhat booking our Ireland holiday and now we have a couple of hundred on Pet Passports, plus extra ferry fare and booking amendment fees to contend with on top. This short notice would probably mean at least £50 for a Travelodge room.

We do love S Wales, but don't know of any dog friendly beaches within easy driving distance. I will admit to having been lazy and not googled yet, as being online is hurting my head. Blush

We've been up to Blackpool and back a few times in a day, so anything that sort of distance would be ok.

LtAllHallow, I suggested Brean, but dh isn't a fan - childhood holiday trauma apparently. Hmm Grin

I went in the summer but presume its all year round just less people now? I also take my boy to kingsbury water park loads of lakes, fields, cafe and a shop. He likes to get an ice cream from the van too Wink. The ice cream woman doesn't enjoy my hair mutt jumping up her van Shock

Borth and Yynslais has dog friendly stretches of its four mile beach. You can get train direct from birmingham new street or its a lovely scenic drive if you Presteine, Ryader way.

Thank you kerstina, I will definitely look them up. Smile

Gwynedd, Barmouth area specifically. All dog friendly in winter, but have dog friendly areas in summer too
