Picking up dog poo - is this ok?

I'm pretty fierce about picking up dog poo. There is never any lying around in my garden. Out on a walk it had barely touched the ground and it's in a bag. I also pick up poo that is lying around if it's on the street or somewhere kids play. It's rank picking it up though.

Anyway fast forward to today when out on a stomp overt the moors and ddog disappeared off the path into very long thick grass to do a poo. I didn't pick it up. I don't think I could have found it. Is this dreadful? Did I commit a doggy sin?

Also I'm taking ddog hillwalkingin a couple of weeks. It'll be a 5ish hour walk. I'd very much like to not have to carry poo in a bag for hours. Could I take a little trowel and bury it instead?

Okay so the only time I ever leave poo is well of the beaten track in seriously thick undergrowth where is struggle to find it anyway.

I will now double bag it and put it in the clip lock poo box. at putting it in your pocket.

I wouldn't dream of leaving it anywhere even remotely civilised. I also would never let my dog of the lead on grazing land.

Thanks all for helping.

Butterflies dog isn't allowed out for a walk yet and seems to produce an inordinate amount of poo for a puppy her size. I cleaned up the garden today, scooped one poop and left the tied bag on the lawn to hunt down the other pile. I turned round to see butterflies dog tossing poo-bag number 1 in the air and catching it in her teeth. Of course I did the instinctive and wrong thing, chased after her and she had a lovely game keeping the poo-bag out of my reach.

Can't wait til we can take her for walks and have less poo in the garden.

Have to say, we used to live in Scotland surrounded by fields and woods. When we took long walks with our previous dog, we used to "stick and flick" in woodland. There was enough deer, fox and rabbit poo anyway and we always flicked right into the undergrowth where no-one would walk.

Or use 2 sticks, 'Chopstick' style, to pick up and throw each morsel away from the path.

Just beware when you then throw your sticks away, that your dog doesn't think it's a game and retrieve them, shitty stick poking proudly out of his mouth....

You can actually buy rucksacks designed to hold poo bags, my boss has one, hold on, I'll try to find what they are called.

OK, they are called Paws 4 Design and the website is HERE
