Can he sleep in the car?

Our doggy care had let us down this weekend. All kennels are full and we are going to a wedding. The only option seems to be to take him with us and him sleep in the car. Anyone else done this?

Welcome Exit. Have a lovely time and don't worry, he'll be fine.

The marriage is in church. The reception is where we are staying and is quite chilled. (BBQ)

I am the mad aunt who gets pissed and dances all night so I can waft off frequently to check on the boy.

House sitter?

ExitPursuedByABear · 13/08/2013 23:27

It's Friday so short notice to meet and greet an unknown person into my home.

The only way I'd do it is to sleep in the car with him ,if necessary do shifts of a few hours each . Are the hotel happy with him being in the car overnight in their car park ?

ExitPursuedByABear · 13/08/2013 23:30

I have no idea. Are there rules about that then?

I have no idea ,but if I had someone staying and they wanted to leave a dog in the car overnight on my drive I wouldn't be happy so I don't see why a hotel owner wouldn't feel the same way . Can a relative who lives local to the wedding not have him overnight .

Waffling · 13/08/2013 23:35

Could you leave him at the house of some of the other local guests?

mumofapirate · 13/08/2013 23:54

where would he go when you at the wedding? in the car again? personally id say no surely if u asked ur friends someonr could watch him for one night even if it was just to let him out in the garden a few times a day

Thanks all for your input. I had nightmares last night about him sleeping in the car, so I have found a neighbour who will take him out for a couple of walks and let him out for a wee last thing at night.

Now - will he be ok on his own in the house all night Grin?

It's not ideal but its better than the car ! Do you not have any friends with older kids that could come and sleep for the night ?

Orangesarenottheonlyfruit · 14/08/2013 16:24

Just to say, my dog sleeps in the car when we go camping, he likes it more than home!

We used to do this with our dog when we went on holiday as they were so much happier than in kennels.

ExitPursuedByABear · 14/08/2013 17:20

The older children I know are all getting their A level results tomorrow so will be out on the lash on Friday night.

The neighbour is very doting and I am sure he will get over it. He sleeps alone downstairs anyway.

We did this with our old dog a couple of times, she was fine, and much more settled than when we took her to kennels. Hope you enjoy the wedding.

ExitPursuedByABear · 14/08/2013 17:24

He hates kennels with a passion.

I was going to pm you to find out what you do with yours but the neighbour has come up trumps.

Which one at Holmfirth?

ExitPursuedByABear · 14/08/2013 20:42

You wouldn't want him with yours. He is a twat.

A much loved twat of course.
