Dog and small baby, advice please

Baby is now 5.5 months and likes to spend time rolling around on the carpet with her toys, I usually lie with her and play. Problem is my very over friendly dog seems to think this is also an invitation for her to get involved. She will come and lie between me and baby, which wouldn't be an issue if she would just lie still, but what usually happens is that she starts licking, anything in range, usually babies mouth and face, and then starts rolling over and waving her legs around. Dd has already has conuuntivitis 3 times, each time I have found a dog hair in her eye mixed in with the gunk. Also, yesterday she almost scratched dd in the face with the waving legs. She is just too excitable to be on the floor with dd and also I don't want her to start playing with the baby, as I think this is a recipe for disaster.
I've started sending dog to her basket when we are on the floor, but when I do this she gives me the dogs trust face, and I feel like such a shit because she obv just wants to be a part of the playtime, and also I don't want her to resent the baby or feel jealous.

When the baby is asleep roll around on the floor with the dog ! I would definitely stop doing what you're doing now its a recipe for an accident .

I don't let my dog near the baby when he's playing on the floor. He would also get too excited and think he's playing with a puppy.

Ignore the face. You're assigning too much emotion to the dog! Keep the baby safe.

I agree, have a seperate play time for the dog. Just shut it out of the room when baby is having some floor time. You need the dog to understand being gentle from the start so rolling around near a baby isn't good.
