Best puppy chew toy reccomendations

So, it's hot ... too hot. I'm bored and trying to avoid moving, as it seems to create an instant layer of perspiration.

We will (hopefully) shortly be adding a new pup to our family.

Having not had a pup for almost 8 years, I was wondering what chew toys people are finding the best these days. I want to have a good selection so there's always something to hand to distract from nipping and exchange for contraband (such as shoes and slippers).

I know back in the late 90s nylabones were popular, but I'm sure I read something about them not being ideal, as essentially the pup is still ingesting plastic, albeit in tiny pieces.

Any other recommendations for puppy related products that people have found particularly useful or worth the investment would be also be greatly appreciated. Smile

Can only speak from experience of one puppy but I had a variety of chew toys ready for our new arrival and all he wanted to play with was soft cuddly type toys.

He did like bully sticks though. Bulls willies, dried. He's 9 months now so would polish one off in seconds but took him ages as a puppy. Pigs ears too. Tripe sticks but hell they stink!!!!

Frozen carrots. Frozen puppy kongs. Will think on..

Old socks with things tied inside worked well. Sometimes just a ball but lots of shapes and sizes inside.

Shock Bully sticks! I'm a vegetarian, although I do manage to raw feed my dogs - but I have to say ... I draw the line at bulls' willies.

Thanks for the other suggestions though! Grin

They look nothing like willies! Cardboard boxes one in side the other laced with kibble is always good, and breaks down your boxes for recycling!

moosemama · 17/07/2013 20:30

Grin Not sure I can get past knowing what they are though. Blush

Thanks Lilcamper, was it you that suggested the cardboard box and kibble idea on another thread the other day. If so, thanks, I have already retrieved a few from the recycling box. Smile

Was me, sorry to be repetitive! Blush

No, not at all - it's a fab idea and needs to be repeated so lots of new puppy owners get to see it. Smile

Keep 'em coming folks! Grin
