This is not my dog btw its a relatives dog that they rehomed. He is lovely and timid in the house but becomes very defensive out of the house. This is very jekyll and hyde.He will go insane at people passing and try to bite them.Is there any way of changing a dogs attitude out of the house? The people he goes mad with are in no way leading him to think they wish to harm him,its quite scary how he can be a sweet loving animal inside and then become this little horror. Its pretty serious now because he has bitten and thats an obvious no no but we cant give up on him without trying to help him. Thanks guys

There are lots of things you can try. However, I wouldn't try any of them until a qualified behaviourist has been to assess it. Def. worth paying for an hours visit and going from there.

I was thinking the same.Is this the best way to go?you wouldnt believe he was like this if you saw him.its such a shame because i think hes been taught this stupid behaviour outside.

You definitely need a behaviourist to assess him and help you to change this behaviour. He should have a full health check at the vet, who can then refer him on to a behaviourist. Look for a member of www.apbc.org.uk.
