Ok so with the help of google I know what my dogs doing when he's doing the chattery thing. Taking in more scent and shoving into the johnston (?) Gland in his mouth so he cant taste/smell more of what he's smelling. So thats cleared that weird behaviour up.

Now, the reason hes doing it is because my mums dogs here for a stay and my dog wont leave her alone. Sniffs his willy and rear end CONSTANTLY following him round and occasionally trying to mount him. Usually I'd leave them to it but its getting right up my nose (and my mums dogs' last nerve) hers keeps growling at mine to tell him to back off but he just carries on.

Ive had to shut them out the front room, which I never usually do, any ideas/advice before I snap? [Grin]

Entire male dog will sometimes do this when they come across a bitch who's in season, so a lot of people believe it's purely sexually motivated, but it can also just be a sign of hyper-excitement. For example, some dogs will do it when their owners pick up their lead to take them for a walk and others when they get to chase a frisbee or something equally as exciting.

This article by Ian Dunbar might help you understand and deal with the mounting.

Basically, cueing and rewarding an alternative behaviour is probably the best way to deal with it.
