Raw Food Question

If I were going to switch to this, how do I know how much raw food my dogs need? I have 2 GSD's and a butchers within a 2 min walk from my house. Is it likely to be more expensive than meat/biscuits Confused

As a general guide you feed 2-3% of body weight. I have 3 dogs totalling 90kg of dog and it costs me about £12.00 per week to feed all of them. Once you do swap you have to cut out the processed commercial dog food immediately due to digestion speeds, if you combine they are likely to get constipated. My dogs love the raw diet and I would never give them any commercial dog food again.

The diet should consist of 80% meat, 10% offal and 10% bone. I don't feed my dogs weight bearing bones as they can be more dense and can break teeth. This is just personal choice.

One thing to consider re money is the cost of thier own freezer to store food in!

I regret not changing my 3 sooner, they love it as do I!

I do it via supermarkets and butchers as I don't have the freezer space to bulk buy. It is no more expensive than the Arden Grange I fed him before the switch. It costs me between 40 and 80p per day depending what he has but mine is small.

I work on the same principles as morethan does percentage wise. I did read that this equates to around 50 to 70 % of diet being meaty bones (things like wings and thighs or meaty ribs) so that is what I do.
