Took ds and the dog to a country park this afternoon where there is a lovely adventure playground; one of the few places you can still sit with your dog and watch your child play without it being fenced off. There was about 40 kids playing, and several families with dogs, all on leads and sat with the parents. Then one couple come over with their kids and a little poodle x type thing, which proceeds to chase their kids round the whole play area, jump up everyone it walks past, bark at anyone with a ball or bike and approach every other dog. Several children were obviously scared and screaming when it ran up to them, not to mention a couple of other dogs, mine included, who were dog aggressive on the lead. And the owners did NOTHING. No attempts at recall, apart from a half hearted whistle and an instruction to their toddler to "fetch him back" when I shoo'd it away from my dogs snapping jaws.

Why do some bloody morons think this is ever going to be ok?? Yes, your dog is a cute little ball of fluff but not everyone feels the same! I'm working really hard on my girl's fear aggression on the lead and dickheads like this just set her back a few weeks. I'm so cross, it proper ruined what was an otherwise lovely afternoon!

I feel your pain. Unfortunately, there is no law against irresponsible twats owning dogs. It is extremely frustrating, especially if you are responsible.

I hate cute little balls of fluff...it seems to be an excuse for bad manners and bad training

Oh I do sympathise. I too have had a lovely afternoon spoilt by stupid dog owners.

I was also in the park this afternoon. Took a blanket and sat on the grass. My dog (who incidentally is a ball of fluff, but a very well behaved one who likes to play with her ball and pretty much ignores other dogs) was chasing her ball back and forth when we were literally jumped on by 2 very large dogs and 2 smaller ones.

My dog got a bit growly with them in defense, which of course I was trying to stop as I didn't want them to start a fight with her, but they were all over me.

The various owners (3 different people) who were all standing near me talking to one another, just stood there watching not saying a word to their respective dogs. I even shouted out in pain at one point as I've hurt my leg and one of the bloody things landed on my painful ankle (fortunately one of the smaller ones).

In the end, muttering loudly about moving, I got up, called my dog to me and moved to another part of the park, at which point they seemed to realise that their dogs' behaviour wasn't acceptable and started murmuring apologies and half heartedly calling their dogs.

To complete the pleasure of the afternoon there was a crowd of people having a picnic near where I'd moved to whose dog did a poo and clearly had the most awful diarrhea. They neither seemed to see it nor made any attempt to clear it up.

We moved to yet another part of the park where the dogs and people seemed a bit better behaved.

It'll be a while before I go back to that park on a Sunday afternoon.

Ooh i had a row with a woman at costwold animal park yesterday.
Great zoo that welcomes dogs, love it but this woman allowed her spaniel to run riot, it was on one of those extendable leads diving over kids and peoples food.
She kept on insisting the dog was fine because it was just saying hello. Silly mare ignored all the peole telling her to control her dog and to get it off their food.

We have dogs, i know they get excited easily but then you take them away and calm them or dont put them in situations like that!

I went for a picnic somewhere similar, sitting in front of us was an off lead staffy, actually it was very well behaved, just playing with its people.

Monster puppy was horrendous, just getting really really excited (he was on lead)...I was talking to the staffy's people a bit, just saying he's still young and a bit overfriendly, they were sympathizing with me, then the woman pipes up, well he will be getting excited, she's just coming out of season.

Angry They had an in season bitch at a children's park, heaving with dogs and had her off lead!

They then moved right in front of me to play fetch with her Hmm I ended up with 6 stones of teenage Rottie actually on my knee crying and trembling - it wasn't fun.

We had giant puppy on a walk today. We were in a big green area, and had met up with some of giant pups friends, they were off lead playing. Another dog comes along just as we were heading in diff directions, this dog makes a bee-line for giant puppy, and would not leave him alone.
Every time he started heading towards us, she would round him up and jump and him.
Dh goes over to drag him away, and she still wouldn't bugger off, finally her owner comes over.... He didn't have a lead or anything on him, and says " she's in season, so she's abit mental"
Now our dog is entire, and is 60kg....so he's very apparent balls, I would have thought would have brought him to collect her a lot faster than he did.....we were gobsmacked.

I've noticed that you are far more likely to encounter twattish dog owners at the weekend. I've also noticed they often have extendable leads.

Dog1 cannot resist chasing very bouncy little dogs so as soon asi see one coming I put him on the lead, 9 times out of ten the owners of bouncy dog don't do the same. Ok if your dog is under control and not going to bound up to my dog on the lead, but the weekend dogs aren't. So we end up with a growling dog on the lead and evils from the owners!

Urg i had one yesterday morning. An old fella had his golden retriever in the car park who was running round all the cars bouncing on every dog. Didnt call it back once despite the fact there were cars reversing all over the place. I took a different route to avoid them. Unfortunately half way round the walk the stupid retriever found us and came bounding over trying to jump up at me. I'm 9 months pregnant and dog came bloody close to getting a boot in its face. The owner still didnt try to call it back or apologise. Grrr.
