There is clearly something, albeit what is a mystery setting them off, every morning they start by barking then howling If i go downstairs to tell them off, they start again within a short time has anyone got any advise pls, it would be so nice to stay in bed until 8am Grin

Can you try them in a different room? Perhaps a cat or something is walking past?

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 08/04/2013 12:38

Watching with interest. Plog is in the habit of barking to be let out and has us well trained.

We have moved them to a room in the middle in the house where they cannot see anything outside, there is a dog over the road, but were on a busy road and i dont really know the people to ask them if their dog dose the same?? there has to be a cause because they're better than a alarm clock bless them Wink

What time does your central heating fire up in the morning? We had this with one of our dogs and it turned out the pipes were clanking/knocking in the room when the boiler kicked in. The noise woke her up and then she decided it was time to go out for a wee.

I'm not sure,, will try that one, but the boiler is well away from where they sleep.

It wasn't the boiler itself, it was the pipes warming up after being cold overnight.

i shall check that out tonight, i may set the timer to 5am, see if that makes them howl, anything is worth a go, will keep you posted!! thanks Flowers

I think you're very lucky to be able to sleep in till 6.30!!! Ours start barking between 5 & 5.30 to be let out. (D)H indulges them, so the cycle continues. I will follow with interest. I hadn't thought about the heating coming on....

moosemama · 09/04/2013 18:28

That's a shame. It would have been a nice easy thing to sort out - just change the time it comes on to when you want an alarm call.

The only other things that wake our dogs are, if the neighbour's shift patterns change and he has to go out at inhumane o'clock in the morning or we get a fox in the garden.
