My computer has been having hissy fits for a while now. I enlisted the help of the dc in order to open and vacuum it. There was half a sodding terrier in there and what appeared to be enough grey fur to make three whole cats Shock

There have been no more hissy fits but now it is working so well, the fan is making my legs cold Sad

I feel you pain. I found SpicyPup hairs ironed into my sparkling clean tea towels today. Yuck!

I once took my PC in for repair as it seemed to have completely died but they couldn't find anything wrong with in.
it worked fine when I brought it home, until a few days later I caught ddog2 sitting down heavily on the power cable under my desk and pulling it out of the socket Blush

Grin Bubble. Dd1 kept trying to get me to send her Kindle Fire away to be repaired but I refused until she showed me it not charging, three days later she announced "You don't need to phone Amazon about my Kindle anymore and you don't need to see it not charging either, you just need to train the cat to not play with wires anymore"

That I'm so used to having dog hairs on everything that I now eat and drink without picking them out Blush

our last dog would moult a full dog Grin honestly I dunno where it came from but it landed on our clothes I even had to get a new washing machine as DH couldnt fix it the drum was full of dog hair Blush and wehad to get the fan replaced on the pc, you need to hoover it all the time apparently, new jaydog doesn't shed an awful lot

I went to vacuum the soft furnishings the other day and my Hoover made the couch look worse... It was depositing dog hair onto the fabric. I think it's gone on strike because of abuse. Last month I took the same vacuum into the Hoover specialty shop for a new motor and the incredulous Hoover fix-it man said he'd never heard of one breaking so quickly before Blush. With all the dustpuppies I hoover up, I don't understand how my dog is not completely bald.

Today, went to make a sandwich with the last of the yummy smoked salmon. Homemade bread, cream cheese, chives, salmon...all piled up on a plate and I turn my back to grab a glass of water. When I go back to the counter...the entire sandwich is GONE. Dog is slinking away around the corner. I had one of the children's hot dogs instead Hmm.

And then there's the constant battle with MUD.

My advice to would-be dog owners now is: You had better really love dogs.

mrsjay · 14/03/2013 21:55

all the dustpuppies

aww @dustpuppies sorry about your hoover and all that but awwy dustpuppies Grin

We went to crufts and the dc were cooing while sizing up candidates to be our next dog (Sconedogs are nearly 11)

I was tempted by the otter hound as it doesn't like swimming (plus point a) and the coat is such that mud drops off very quickly (plus point b) and they don't moult (give that dog a bone!)

needastrongone · 14/03/2013 21:56

The washing machine is always always in with either muddy towels, smelly bedding or pieces of vet bed!! Seriously frightened to consider the increase in utility bills!! Never thought of that one!

Lol wifeofpie at your sneaky dog!

One day I'm going to sew one of those twee cross stitch mottoes to say 'in this house dog hair is a condiment' and then I'll make another one for my friend that has 4 Elkhounds and a couple of Finnish Spitz!

My old car had a plastic sheath over the handbrake mechanism rather than a fully sealed rubber gaiter. The handbrake became steadily harder and harder to use over time, requiring a great deal of effort to get it on full lock. Eventually I became tired of heaving on the handbrake to crank it up and took it in to the garage to have it checked.

Turned out the thing that was stopping it was a giant solid plug of dog hair, horse hair, hay and straw. Blush

Boy dog is 'blowing' his coat at the moment - they shed heavily anyway but this is a twice annual special event in which every last scrap of undercoat is shed and replaced in a matter of a couple of weeks. I can brush him thoroughly, raking right down the skin, using a Furminator etc. and within the hour I can see a new tuft pop up. Plucking that tuft generates five more. It is maddening.

SconeInSixtySeconds · 14/03/2013 22:06

Do you know what else? I reckon the dogs have taught the guinea pigs how to tell the time. Currently in the living room on their winter sojourn they wheek whenever the fridge door is opened and have come to decide that the dogs going for their last wee is final tea time.

I am basically an animal servant.

bubble2bubble · 14/03/2013 22:59

Monster pup has stolen so many of my lunches now that DH thinks I'm starting to display signs of food agression

LousThighBurn · 15/03/2013 00:21

The amount of slippers and socks I have gone through since having a dog has dramatically increased. I've never been subjected to chewing, the culprit is...(cue a 10 second pause) The Night Time Wee.My dog is a wuss when it comes to TNTW,unless you can convince her that there is a squirrel in the garden you have to go out with her. Now maybe it is my fault for not putting outdoor footwear on for this event each night but I really do think that each night she will go out and wee alone. Obviously not, soggy socks, muddy slippers and even a slug in between my toes I still haven't learned! Blush But she hasn't either, and technically she is older than me so I'm putting the blame on her usually wise shoulders!
I thought I'd share this as it really is a terrible issue, it tends to be seasonal but with living in England it is pretty much an issue all year round.
