Nervous dog/kennels

I've got 2 dogs, one hates strangers and takes a long time before she trusts anyone new. When she was 6 months she was in kennels for 2 weeks as I was on holiday, she would only let one person walk/feed her etc and the 1st thing the kennel owner said when I went to pick her up was "that dog does not like men".....well she's now 4 and still doesn't! I need to use kennels again and terrified, I would use the same kennels again in the hope she remembers the person she liked lol but 4 years on I doubt it :(. Has anyone else used kennels with a dog with 'issues'?

Would boarding at the home of someone she knows be an option? I have a nervous dog and won't go away if my parents or one of a couple of trusted local sitters can't have her.

She used to go to my MIL's but last time she ended up with a broken arm (oops). For some reason MIL thought it would be a good idea to wrap the leads of two large dogs round her wrist! so got pulled over, resulting in a broken arm/shoulder and telling me she's not dog sitting again lol (it's not funny). My only option now is kennels :(

Umm, maybe buy her a waist belt to clip the leads to, a couple of shock absorber attachments for the ends of the leads and beg?

I may resort to "if you can't watch the dogs, then you can't see the kids lol"

Have you thought about home boarding? I have a nervous dog and when we travel he stays with a lovely family. It's more expensive than kennels, but he gets a lot of attention, his usual walks and other dogs to tear around with :)

I'd be more nervous about home boarding her as I'd have visions of her hiding in a corner, other visitors, going out for walks etc at least in the kennels she'd be with her sister and left alone until meal/exercise time, the rest of the time she'd be left alone to watch the world go by. I find it weird how 2 dogs from the same litter are like chalk and cheese lol
