Natural instinct dog food any views?

Hi. Pooch still has runny bottom every few days. He's on burgess supa dog sensitive rec by v expert rescue. He is a lurcher so tends to eat everything in sight so that may account for some of the upset.

Have been recommended this by other friends whose lurcher is doing really well on it.

It is a per packed version of barf food or so I think. Any views?

Mine thrive on it, I feed other BARF around it, Chicken wings/carcasses etc

I like it a lot as do my dogs

As in like - the smell, convenience, ethos, ingredients and effect on my dogs

Sam the whippety lurcher (from Celia Cross too!) thrives on it.
He had a bad bout of hemorrhagic gastro enteritis last year and ended up with liver failure and scepticaemia, not expected to survive. He was hospitalised for a week, on a drip, had two blood plasma transfusions. As part of the illness he 'shed' his bowel lining. This has left him with very scarred bowels and he can only digest a very very limited range of foods.

The Natural Instinct Food has been a god send.
We went to see them, with Sam, had a tour of the factory, saw the raw ingredients, told them about Sam's history, they made some recommendations and we bought a few packs.
He is thriving. I mean thriving! He has gone from being a lethargic, thin-furred dog with frequent bouts of diarrhoea to a bouncy, mischieveous, hairy, lively thing with pick-up-able poos.

I don't give Sam other BARF around this diet as so many things upset him and it is too easy to knock him out of balance. So he has quarter of a tub in the morning, quarter of a tub in the afternoon. At the moment I only buy two diferent varieties as I know he tolerates them but may try a third in the New Year. I also buy the Natural Instinct treats (beef jerkey and dried liver) and he tolerates those well.

I cannot recommend them highly enough. We live close enough to the factory outlet to be able to personally collect Sam's food every 14 days. So we always have a little chat with them about Sam and they are very very knowledgeable and supportive.

The other thing I like is that all the staff / owners there use my vet, and my vet recommends this diet (after a previous vet asked us if we were wanting to kill the dog when we mentioned moving to raw!!)

Great food, and lovely, small, family business. Cannot recommend them highly enough Smile

Thanks Piffle. Hi there Lock. Sounds like you had such a hard time with Sam - feel for all of you. Great to hear that you have found a food that works for him.

I have to say Natural Instinct sounds great - the food and the whole set up. The challenge for us is freezer space. Plus we would want to take him camping and to France - when it would be a challenge to keep the food fresh/frozen.

Am trying Nature Diet at the moment and we have solid poos for the first time ever. Here's hoping this might work.

Yes, I have not yet found a way round the travelling with a dog on frozen raw food. But there must be a way...
Luckily we don't camp, we hire cottages so always make sure we stock a coolbox and then transfer to the cottage freezer...

Good luck wiht the Nature Diet x
