Hi all,

Just a moan really, i took my dog for a run this morning to our local fields, she was having a fab time chasing her ball until she ran through broken glass that someone had left in the field Sad
she has badly lacerated one of her pads and is currently waiting to be opperated on.
it just makes me sad that someones thoughlessness has had this result.

Ouch, your poor dog. Fingers crossed she makes a full recovery!

My friends whippet is currently housebound for 4 weeks, last week she did the equivalent of slitting her wrist, she severed an artery and a tendon, and did something to a vein. The vet is pleased with her progress so far. They think she did it on a 'ripped' drinks can iyswim? Unfortunately a 10 month old Bull dog type puppy did the same thing in the same place on the field and bled to death before his owner got hik back to her car :(

Him

twinmummy24 · 14/12/2012 10:42

funnily enough scooby is a lurcher, the sight hounds just bomb around without paying attention to where they are going Grin
just waiting for the vets to ring, honestly its worse than the kids being ill!!

My dog sliced off a part of his pad in the summer on broken glass on a grass verge. Bled like mad and was quite scary. He didn't require an op, but did have to have it dressed for a week (that was fun Hmm). I hope your woof makes a swift recovery :)

twinmummy24 · 14/12/2012 10:54

i feel so bad though because i didn't realise how bad it was until i got her home and had a good look, she is such a good girl though even though she must of been in pain she still let a group of school kids make a fuss of her.

I didn't know mine was injured either until I realised he was leaving a trail of blood behind him Blush

OwlLady · 14/12/2012 13:57

:(

please don't feel bad, these things happen

twinmummy24 · 14/12/2012 14:36

well, she is out of her opperation, apparently she had a nasty puncture wound as well as a laceration, she needs antibiotics and cant be walked for at least two weeks, all because someone couldn't be bothered to pick up their rubbish Sad

OwlLady · 14/12/2012 14:41

what a shame :(

PartridgeInASpicyPearTree · 14/12/2012 15:21

Get well soon 24dog!

needastrongone · 14/12/2012 16:48

Why do the thoughtless few always spoil it for the majority?

Home she recovers well Smile

needastrongone · 14/12/2012 16:49

That's 'hope', bloody butter fingers!

twinmummy24 · 14/12/2012 16:55

How is she today Twin?

twinmummy24 · 15/12/2012 15:47

far too excited Grin back to her normal self which means bombing around the house like a loon!
we are mean to limit walking etc for at least two weeks but at this rate she will do herself more harm being stuck in, think we may end up having to take her for a short around the block walk to try and calm her down.
we are due back at the vets on monday for them to change the dressing and check the wound.

I'm so sorry this happened - people just don't think :(

Pleased to hear Scooby is making a good recovery Xmas Grin and fwiw, I'd take him for a short walk too - far less likely to damage himself if he's had a bit of fresh air. (Obviously you need to check that the wound is still well covered first.)

WhenSantaGotStuckUpACunnyFunt · 15/12/2012 17:59

Chipping Scooby is a girl Xmas Wink

I'm pleased she's feeling better Xmas Smile

twinmummy24 · 15/12/2012 21:50

don't worry, most people assume she is a boy, thats what happens when you let the kids choose the name Grin

NotMostPeople · 15/12/2012 21:55

Hope she feels better soon, my lurcher did the same a couple of months ago. It was hard because he loves a walk and you know what they're like for racing around. Poor Scooby.

WhenSantaGotStuckUpACunnyFunt · 15/12/2012 23:17

People always assume my greyhound is a girl Xmas Confused no idea why, it's not like he has loads of pouffy fur to hide his willy.

I know a female Snoopy. Thing is, she isn't even a Beagle Xmas Grin she's a Great Dane x Lab Xmas Grin
