And they were selling pups. Miniature Schnauzers and a fashionable cross breed. Anyone care to take a punt on the asking price?

That's ridiculous. 2.7k for a dog that isn't even a pure bred pedigree.

I imagine the grooming parlour is the kind of place where all the very rich WAGs etc go with little Tinkerbell and Fifi, the cutsie wutsie little handbag dogs who can't possibly walk anywhere!

Both? Who knows, maybe the tortoise is giving your 2.3k puggle a pedicure. Someone should ring the pet spa up and enquire!

fanoftheinvisibleman · 29/10/2012 19:42

You can indeed take your muddy hound.

Last year (to the exact day) my 6 year old ds and my uncle concocted a plan to take my uncles cocker spaniel there to choose his 1st birthday present!

We had to take all his papers and be escorted through the building with an entourage who were falling over themselves to doth their caps to the daft dog.

It was excruciatingly embarrassing as lots of tourists clearly thought we were important. Ds and uncle lapped it up!

I felt sorry for the pups that day too.

VivaLeBeaver · 29/10/2012 19:42

If I lived in London I'd be so tempted to drag my smelly, large hound through the door. If the doormen try and stop me I'll tell them we're off for a blackberry facial. She'll cause mayhem in there - she knocked a stand over at a VW show once. The chaos in the Food Hall would be entertaining.

VivaLeBeaver · 29/10/2012 19:43

What do you have to take their papers for? Pedigree papers or a vaccination certificate?

VivaLeBeaver · 29/10/2012 19:44

Please say afetr all that you spent £2.50 on the cheapest chew you could find? Grin

TheCunnyFuntOfEastwick · 29/10/2012 19:46

Ooh yes Viva I believe greyhounds are usually rather clumsy aren't they? My Sprocket is anyway :o

fanoftheinvisibleman · 29/10/2012 19:50

I know he needed vax certificate. Not sure if he had anything else, I was trying to hide at that point as we had people starting to gawp.

And cheapest toy? Course we did...yorkshire born and bred here Grin.

They made a big song and dance about presenting the dog with a biscuit in fancy wrappings for his birthday though. I can feel my toes curling again just thinking about it!

Oi. Stop getting side tracked by talk of fancy tortoise pedicures and join in my bosom hoiking at the cross breed prices Although I was half tempted to liberate a Shnauzer pup

My post didn't appear. I upped my amount to £2500 (based on the £1000 cat). Do I win? [hgrin]

difficultpickle · 29/10/2012 20:37

£2700? (just read bits I missed!). Really? Who on earth would spend that on a dog? Were the parents there or just the puppies?

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 29/10/2012 20:52

Just puppies.

OP posts:
difficultpickle · 29/10/2012 22:12

I thought you should never buy a puppy unless you'd met the parents?

VivaLeBeaver · 29/10/2012 22:24

They won't be kc registered. I'd be interested to know if they can provide proof of parental hip checks, eye tests, etc. and of course one of the basics of puppy buyi g is seeing the parents to assess their temperament, or at least the mum.

Lolly7 · 29/10/2012 22:33

£2.7k? OMG! People have more money than sense.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 29/10/2012 22:41

DH wanted to ask if they were the non shitting kind of puppy at those prices.

OP posts:
Floralnomad · 29/10/2012 23:06

For that price I'd not only want it to be the non pooing variety but also able to do all the cleaning indoors and cook the dinners

rogersmellyonthetelly · 30/10/2012 20:45

I'd want it to shit golden turds and walk itself for that money. My god I really do despair that anyone would actually pay that amount for a puppy, particularly what is basically a mongrel!
More money than good sense just about says it all.

sunflowerseeds · 01/11/2012 20:41

No responsible breeder would ever sell puppies to Harrods. Had the schnautzers been illegally docked?

Littlemisspoorly · 01/11/2012 20:48

Do they have a dog whisperer?

I wondered how much a whisper would be.

Littlemisspoorly · 01/11/2012 20:49

He/she could whisper in my ear Grin Got ya!

AdoraBell · 02/11/2012 02:12

We bought pedigree puppies here in Chile. No flash shop front, no fancy frills. £500 each. OH thought that was expensive!

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 02/11/2012 13:32

I'm not sure about the Schnauzers. They had short tails, but not sure if that's the normal length iyswim.

Scuttlebutter · 02/11/2012 13:45

Harrods does buy from puppy farms. Licensed puppy farms it is true, but puppy farms all the same. Sad Angry
