My dog got his arse kicked by a cat this morning

Walking the youngest to school, and came around a corner to meet a cat sat outside its gate. They stopped, both looked at each other, and then the cat went apeshit. It scratched at his face, and then when he turned around to flee, attached itself to his arse. All four claws were clinging on to his rear, think baby monkey being carried through the forest. The dog howled. The cat hissed. I made a pathetic 'Waaaaah!' kind of noise. The dog shook his arse and dislodged the evil feline. And then dripped blood all the way to school, like a horror movie victim. And there was I worrying that he might catch and hurt a cat Hmm

I did my school work experience at a vets. They specialised in greyhound care, they couldn't put pictures/posters up of fluffy bunnies or cats because the greyhounds would lunge at the walls!

Greyhounds are beautiful dogs, but i wouldn't want them near anything small and furry, they are bred to chase/catch/eat small furries (ok,maybe not bred to eat but that's the next step isn't it! Grin )

I have a greyhound, he would quite cheerfully kill any cat or other small furry he came across. We also have a pet rabbit. The greyhound has learnt he can't get to the rabbit, I won't allow him to get the rabbit so therefore he ignores her. I muzzle him outside of the house. Even though he hasn't raced for around 3 years he still has a pretty strong prey drive where small furries (inc dogs!) are involved. I am of the opinion that greyhounds should always be muzzled outside of the house as they can be too unpredictable with small furries.

aside from that slight psychopathic fluffy-bunny killer instinct, I bloody love Greyhounds.

Gorgeous dogs, so gentle and elegant.

Brian my grey won 4th place in the black greyhound dogs class at the great greyhound gathering on satirday :)
Here are some photos of his Lordship :o

Saturday, even.

Oh, he's gorgeous! Is the pic of his sore leg, his dew (sp?) claw? I only ask as during my time on work experience I 'nursed' (ie cuddled) a GH that had had his removed and it then bled profusely. The poor boy just took it in his stride as the nurse and vet attended to him, he must have been in so much pain yet he just cuddled into my neck.

GH's don't look cuddly, but in my experience - they are!

My cats can turn on our or my mums dog at any given moment. And my tabby cashed my friends rottie out of the garden with her tail between her legs.

Dogs normally come of much worse in a cat fight.

BrianCoxIsUpTheDuff · 19/09/2012 17:55

Oh and congrats on the 4th place!

My mutt was entered into the Prettiest Eyes competition at a fund raiser a few weeks ago, she didn't win - it was a travesty!!! (see pic on profile for evidence of her utter beauty) Grin

TheGOLDCunnyFunt · 19/09/2012 18:53

Gorgeous!

No his leg was when he tried to pick a fight with a staffy and came off worse with a 1" by 2" gash in one side and a few holes in the other side of his leg. 11 stitches and £181 later and he's practically back to normal!

TheGOLDCunnyFunt · 19/09/2012 18:56

Btw thank you, I'm very proud of him :) the judge was a crufts judge you know :o

BrianCoxIsUpTheDuff · 19/09/2012 19:00

oh, so no ordinary 4th place - a Cruft's Judge 4th Place.

Impressed Grin

ilovesprouts · 19/09/2012 19:01

my cat felix chases the dogs away ,they are more scared of him now tho :) no dog will go near him

TheGOLDCunnyFunt · 19/09/2012 19:12

:o And it was both mine and Sprockets first ever dog show ever :) it somehow makes it more important that the judge was a Crufts judge.
