Pup is 5 months. Currently on Burns as the protein is low and it suits her.

If for whatever reason we can't get Burns she has Skinners Field and Trial Puppy. Although possibly due to the extra protein it does seem to increase her bounce factor.

I was on the Skinners website today and notices that the composition of their duck/chicken/salmon and rice range is exactly the same as Burns Puppy, in paricularly in regards to protein and fatty acids.

I thought Puppy food was designed for Puppy growth and needs. But if the composition is the same could she not simply have the adult Skinners? Confused

My 4 month pup is on adult food as the protein levels are good for her and she loves it. I am not a believer in puppy food.

You will find endless conflicting advice about food and feeding. If your pup is on a good quality food, and is doing all the normal things, what do you want to change? If it ain't broke don't fix it. I was told the blank opposite feeding guidlines between a food company and the vet nurse.

Puppies need protein for growth, and working dogs need protein to keep going. For adult dogs who don't work, who aren't running about for 6 hours + a day, they will need less protein, or they will be bouncing off the walls instead.

Easy.

The reason I was looking to change is she is getting too large for the mini bites feeding guide, it is working out expensive Grin

My options are to switch to Burns Extra which had too much protein and made her epically bouncy. So I was looking for something with a similar make up to the mini bites but more affordable and saw that the composition was the same. As the protein and fats are the same I assume that would still be good for growth for her?

I just wondered if I was missing a secret ingredient with the puppy food.

When my last dog was a puppy she was straight on Wellbeloved adult as that was what was recommended at the time.
