Dangerous dog bed - any other useless/ dangerous dog products?

EdgarAllanPond · 07/09/2012 20:19

this bed

don't buy it!! i fell over carrying DS in a sling just putting a foot to it.
i hope he's ok, i think his necks been sore since.

dog didn't like it either. i put a review on their site, but it hasn't appeared yet, and another one saying similar got a bland 'we're looking into it' type reply.

which stuff wouldn't you buy again?

Why is it dangerous if you fell over it? Surely any dog bed object on the floor is dangerous if you trip on it with your baby in a sling?

rogersmellyonthetelly · 07/09/2012 20:30

I wouldn't buy any toy other than kong, but then my dog has steel reinforced jaws it seems. Bed wise, we have the waterproof 1000 denier ballistic nylon ones as she likes chewing those too.
I do look at some of the puppy stuff in pets at home and laugh though, who in their right mind buys pink fluffy teddies for a bloody puppy? It's a massacre, puppies chew for a living and have lovely sharp teeth! You might as well rip your money up or burn it really for all the good they will do.

MNhoneydragonHQ · 07/09/2012 20:33

We have just got previous dogs old wicker bed out the loft for the puppy Hmm

I like living dangerously Grin

ditavonteesed · 07/09/2012 20:33

I have pieces of vet bed lying around on the floor where the dogs drag tham, we always go flying when we step ob them, wouldnt dream of saying that makes them dangerous. now child detangle spray used near the laminate floor.
Hope your ds is ok.

MNhoneydragonHQ · 07/09/2012 20:47

Yup we only use detangling spray on the landing as its carpeted!

EdgarAllanPond · 07/09/2012 21:03

i have lots of dogs beds. trust me on this - stand on it and it slips away. vet bed doesn't do this. sheepskin doesn't. nor does the big cloth covered bed, nor does the suedey one that came with her bed.

it was on a carpetted floor! the bed didn't skate over the floor, I skated over the bed.

i laboured walking on vet bed - it makes a very secure surface.

TheGOLDCunnyFunt · 07/09/2012 21:03

So you tripped over it because it was on the floor? How does that make it dangerous? Confused
I quite frequently trip over the dog and 14mo DD. I can't exactly send them back nor leave a bad review because they're 'dangerous' Hmm

EdgarAllanPond · 07/09/2012 21:03

i didn't trip over the edge - i put my foot square on it.

OP posts:
EdgarAllanPond · 07/09/2012 21:04

i didn't trip over it

it isn't a secure surface to put your foot on.

OP posts:
EdgarAllanPond · 07/09/2012 21:06

as i said.. i have lots of dogs beds - this is a different thing...it isn't safe to be on the floor.

rogers - whilst i worked at a supermarket... a lady returned one of those fluffy toys because chewing damaged it Confused

i gave her her money. with a look.

TheGOLDCunnyFunt · 07/09/2012 21:09

X posts, I understand that now. So you didn't actually trip over it? You slipped on it? That right? Is the bottom of it not slip-proof? Matbe you could get some non-slip matting to put underneath it.

EdgarAllanPond · 07/09/2012 21:12

the thing didn't actually slip off the carpet (though it does on a hard surface) - the stuffing seems to just slip inside, so the fluffy top just shifted over the base like cheese topping off a hot pizza.

OP posts:
EdgarAllanPond · 07/09/2012 21:15

someone elses review said similar

' I soon became aware of why she's not keen on it when my Mum and Dad both seperatly stepped on it and went flying. The base itself isn't the cause of the problem, the filling slides badly on the bottom. '

OP posts:
slambang · 07/09/2012 21:17

But it's not designed to be trodden on.

Would you call bananas dangerous because you could slip on their peel? Confused

TheGOLDCunnyFunt · 07/09/2012 21:21

Ohhh so the whole thing slipped over itself iyswim? The cover slipped over the stiffing and the stuffing slipped over the base? Therefore making you slip?

TheGOLDCunnyFunt · 07/09/2012 21:22

STUFFING Blush

MNhoneydragonHQ · 07/09/2012 21:32

Surely the dog is meant to tread on it though? So the dogs are t liking it but have to wait for a hound slave to hurt themselves before anyone establishes why they've taken over the sofa?

EdgarAllanPond · 07/09/2012 21:48

it shouldn't be a massive banana skin though should it? dog beds are designed to be floor mounted, therefore you and dog should be able to stand on it (sensibly) without going tail over nose.

Dog hated the way it skated out from under her feet, and she has four of them...

when i put it in her bed, she slipped off it - i put it under something else and it still slipped away.

honeydragon - 'hound slave' ..hehehe...we have a very nice sheepskin they are always aren't allowed on.

SpicyPear · 07/09/2012 23:58

Edgar, I'm confused. My dog has this and she loves it. No slipping. Wouldn't buy again though, but that's because it's flat as a pancake after a month!

EdgarAllanPond · 08/09/2012 23:32

i think they may have rejigged the design, if so, they should still have recalled the slippy ones... if you have stood on it with any force, without slipping, and not slipped, it is not the same item!

i don't normally complain about things. but this really was crap.

Rogers- I bought those little fluffy toys for my dog when she was a pup. She still has her first tiny, pink ducky and seeing a grown up golden carrying around her puppy toys is adorable. Not all pups are toy killers!

rogersmellyonthetelly · 09/09/2012 18:39

Ha, must just be Mine then, but she is a staffy and they are renowned for their jaws!
