Which insurance company will insure 2 dogs on one plan? or give discount for multiple pets?

At the moment i have my dog insured, we are looking at getting another dog and we also have a cat, is it possable to insure them all together?

I cant find anything Sad, maybe we are better off just putting money back each month incase anything happens? At the moment i am paying £18 a month for the dog (through Tesco) but can't afford to pay that for each of them. The cat is not insured and after the year of vet bils (over £1000's worth) i'm not sure if we could get insurance for him now Sad.

Petplan do a discount for multiple pets but it was still cheaper for us to get our dogs both policies at John Lewis. I know a lot of people just keep an empty credit card in case any of their pets need treatment, maybe an option? Good that you've worked out this may be a problem before getting a second dog though - wish I'd done that!

if you get a partnership card at John Lewis you can then put your insurance on it and get John lewis vouchers back, this made out 1 dog insurance equivalent to £9 a month

Thanks Pimms, will have a look at John Lewis. We looked at pet plan for the cat as it has good reviews, it is slightly more money than the others but it covers a lot more. We insured the dog as soon as we got her, luckily she has never needed any vet treatment in the 4 years we have had her (unlike the cat).

We use sainsburys and I'm sure we get 10% off for additional dogs. Also, every time we get a renewal, DH complains about the cost and we get sent £20 or £40 of sainsburys vouchers.

I refuse to use Petplan due to their association with puppy farmers.

I don't know how to link but have a look at VIP4you.co.uk for multiple pet insurance.

Different policies with different companies also vary a lot and offer varied levels of cover.
Best to ensure you're happy with the excess you'll have to pay each time.
Check the maximum they will pay out for any one condition and whether there is a cut off time for covering a particular problem after it is first diagnosed. If the limit is 12 mths, it would be fine for covering big emergencies like a broken limb but not good if a chronic problem developed like a skin allergy that required lifelong ongoing treatment. A limit of a few thousand pounds can seem a lot but can be quickly used up if a pet requires referral to a specialist or has an ongoing problem with a monthly drugs bill.
Some companies will only cover a pet up to a particular age and not for their lifetime, often it's as they get older problems start.
