We have recently got a puppy
She is a mini poodle, thanks for all the good advice. We decided against any kind of doodle and our little girl is gorgeous
Her 4 weeks free insurance has now run out and I am looking for a suitable insurance
Its very confusing. There are policies with a year limit on conditions for around £10 a month, others still have a cost but no time limit
Excesses are all pretty high so it would only be used in extreme circumstances
Does anyone have any recommendations

I don't have insurance.
I've explained why on the thread about stitches & drain, so can't help, sorry.

Glad you're thrilled with your puppy. She sounds gorgeous.

Bet you are underestimate vet costs...extreme bills are quite common.

I have had 8 dogs and have always claimed repeatedly! Yours is a pup, a fight, accident, as yet unseen long term medical condition could happen at any moment!

Would you want the best care, could you weather bills of a thousand plus? I can't afford not to get cover as have had bills too big for my pot...even had I been saving not insuring. I claimed over ten thousand in a year from pet plan!

For me it is for life cover, no exclusions, no caps on individual conditions and at least 7000 annual cover. Pet plan, axa have been good. Avoid e and l, incidentally my vet has this type of cover too.

Same as above, we have a life cover 7k a year limit for our dog. The last thing you want is you dog having a lifelong disease/condition and only 1 years worth of cover, you wouldn't be able to claim for that condition on any policy after that as it would be pre-existing. We have ours with pet plan, it's £22 a month for a boxer/rottweiler cross who is under 1 year old.

We got caught out with one of our cats earlier this year, she wasn't insured and in less than 2 weeks we had over £600 in vets bills and we ended up having to have her put to sleep last month as she had a terminal relapse - All down to a virus that there is no test or cure for.
