The doghouse

If you're worried about your pet's health, please speak to a vet or qualified professional.

Should Mumsnet HQ simply ban people trying to rehome their pets on here?

I am not belittling the tireless devotion Mnetters have done for all the animals they helped.

It would be a loss for any other future animals they could help.

But if people are Internet savvy enough to post a dramatic post about rejoining their dog, than they are able to google the info they need.

Too many people are shitty about the doghouse and regular posters.

I can understand posting on a site that is largely considered a parenting site wanting help with working out a family dynamic. But it's not an animal welfare forum.

Please don't think I am callous or cruel. It is a genuine question, I'm not even sure how I feel tbh.

Mnet hq could simply send an email with perhaps a list of approved numbers to contact.

Would that help make the dog house a place for advice and opinion?

Oh yes, not the same gang.

There's about 59 gangs containing one person on the doghouse.

I never knew that until tonight.

Yes, this brings me back to the perhaps MNHQ needs to stop it. Especially as it is very, very rarely regulars who post for help in rehoming in these "incidents". Almost always the story in the original op is not the correct one. I see the same bull shit on FB

Sometimes I think the ops are asking for permission to PTS.

I have one friend who roundly got slated for rehoming her dog (that she had took in) as it was getting into more and more vicious and aggressive attacks with her first dog. Tried advice from behaviourist etc but the size of her house meant keeping both dogs and her toddler separate was impossible. It was a horrible struggle and she hated letting him go.

Now although she got roundly slated on FB I know that if she'd posted here she would have got so much help as it was obvious she'd tried everything. But she didn't post on here she was too busy consulting local rescues, speaking to fosterers if she really couldn't manage till she found a home and vetting people who wanted the dog

I've always wanted to be in a gang, but only if it's T-Birds esque (no violence, just leather jackets, posturing and hair combing). Any of the gangs fit that description?? [hopeful]

I grew up with dogs in the family home then DH and I got our own one three years ago. I absorbed a fair amount about growing up but doing a lot of lurking on TDH has really helped me properly understand them and has been immensely helpful. If I ever had a problem (fingers crossed that won't be the case!) I would seek advice here. I also think that the emotional support given to people genuinely wanting to do the best for their dogs is heartwarming.

It's terrible that whenever there is a suggestion that someone should take responsibilty for an incident that has happened with their dog the bat signal seems to go out to the anti-dog brigade and they come flocking to distract the OP from the helpful advice being offered. Although I would say that I have noticed certain people who do this do the same kind of goading and shit-stirring in other parts of MN so maybe it's not TDH specific.
