My vet told me the other week it is not one step forward several back its baby steps baby steps no steps :)

Pimmsdog has now got to bringing ball back to you but then growls and refuses to release it. He is older than yours but a rescue who had no training and I think has finally settled as he is suddenly displaying a whole lot of puppy traits that weren't present before. Its like he has decided he can be a puppy now, sad to think that he hasn't been allowed before. Although must say since getting rid of 2 very large objects between his legs he is now coming every time I call him Grin

I have a bit of time today so thought would get heavy on the food thing. He will let me take bowl away rich him when eating out of it everything. I got him to "off" the tugajug and he came to me and waited for treat but when I went to hold collar (took it slow) he barked and bared teeth, it's actually really upset me (silly I know) Blush

If you have a dog that resource/food guard trying adding food rather than taking it away.

When your dog is eating if you add food to his bowl he begins to learn that a human hand is no threat so no need for biting or snarling. Do this frequently and you will have no issue with snarling but it does sound as if there is back history I do not know of so feel free to ignore if my comments are inappropriate

Take the toy away from him he doesn't need it. Teach him a stay command. Lots of dogs don't like their collar held, try putting a house line on him so that you can gently lead him away from things

But he has his diner in the tugajug ? Should I put him back on the bowl

if ours growls when he has a toy we leave him and ignore him, then when he brings the toy to us we stroke him, fuss him and then play. As soon as he growls we ignore again. It is starting to work but would love to know how to stop the growling altogether, although I do think it is a sign that he has had enough and doesn't want to play anymore.
