Puppy chewed windowsill

I left my 5 month cavapoo in the kitchen today for two hours. She has chewed a big hole in my window sill. How can I stop her from doing this? Can't take her everywhere and need to be able to leave her sometimes. Help!!

Have you tried crate training her? Then you could leave her in her crate with a kong when you went out without her being able to eat the house.

She sleeps in a crate at night. So I could use this in the day. Didn't know if that would confuse her. Will try it. Thank you.

I did crate my dog when he was younger if we had to go out. As long as she has positive associations with the crate, and is happy to go in to it, it should work well for a couple of hours :)

Silly question but you mean a patio windowsill right? Otherwise the mind boggles. My staff pup did the skirtings next to her bed and also the wall further up, we use a spray from pets at home which tastes vile on anything that looks tempting. Seems to stop her, she rarely chews properly now, just her toys. Preference would be to use her crate but she chews her bed which is expensive to replace and picking
Bits of white fluff off the floor when she has had a party with it is a pita.

Can't offer much practical help really. We got our puppy a Kong toy which you can stuff with bits of ham etc or peanut butter, which worked for us, to a point.
The chewing does stop. It just seems relentless, but should end.

Actual wooden window sill!!! Very old cottage, wood a bit soft! Will look for some of that spray too.

One of my Skyes ate a hole in the bare stone wall of the hall.

Didn't realise that dogs could eat peanut butter. Thanks for that. Will try it tomorrow. Bought the spray stuff today and that seems to be working but obviously I can't spray the whole kitchenSmile

I had to put my puppy in a crate when he was wee. He chewed a big bit out of my windowsill and my living room unit. And about 40 shoes, including my favourite Jasper Conrans, the only heels I could stand up in Angry

loveleopardprint my 1yo used to chew the doorframe and if bored will chew/dig the wooden floor. Only time he doesn't is if he has lots to chew on. Usually a knuckle or pigs ear or something similar he also has lots of chewy toys doesn't like the kong for some reason
