I have a jack Russell, this weather is proving a nightmare. He refuses point blank to move on a lead when it's raining- I end up dragging him along. I only want him to do his business!
He has several coats- they dont work. I don't want him going in the house.

Any advice? My neighbours
Think in a loony!!!

My DM nearly got run over recently because her terrier decided she would rather sit in the road and get run over by approaching car than walk in a coat! Huge umbrella to cover each of you? Do they make doggy wellies?

Pickles77 · 12/07/2012 19:10

I've tried the umbrella Grin.

Can you imagine my neighbours seeing him in Welles? Blush the thought is cracking me up!
He needs wheels! Or one of those trolleys like kids have...with a toy dog on Smile

Pushchair with rain cover?

Pickles77 · 12/07/2012 19:15

It may have to be the way- throw him out at the nearest tree!Grin

Think yourself lucky. I have a 45 kilo Ridgeback who is exactly the same. Try dragging one of those Grin

If we get caught out on a walk he literally runs from tree to tree and cowers under bushes. He will hold his bladder for 12 hours rather than go out in the rain to pee before bed.

Pickles77 · 12/07/2012 19:25

Yay I'm not alone Grin
I don't envy you with that!!

Most definitely not alone. I considered getting him a coat but to be honest I don't think it would help. He is a total wuss when it comes to water.

If we get the hose out in the garden he sprints inside and hides in his bed.

If it is very hot when we are out, he will go in water up to his knees and stick his head under the water, but it is rare.

Pickles77 · 12/07/2012 19:39

I have the same issues! He chewed up the hose! Grin

my two GSDs do not like the rain either....I have to be really stern to get Kelly to go out last thing if it is raining. Poor pup doesn't like it either but he is only a baby!

He will also try and sneak off upstairs to bed early with the children if he sees it is raining!!

Mrsfred · 12/07/2012 19:43

At least you can pick yours up and stick him in the bath when he smells. We have to shut him out of the house, corner him and attack him with a bucket and sponge Grin

When he was a bit smaller we had a huge bin store which we can fill up, but once he cottoned on to what we were doing he would stick all four paws out in different directions so we couldn't fit him in it!

Pickles77 · 12/07/2012 19:47

I'm so sorry to laugh ladies Grin

Oh yes the old sneaking off to bed trick! I know it wellGrin
