Golden retriever 6 months is driving me bonkers. He is lovely and good in so many ways but I went out of the room for ten minutes earlier came back and he had kitchen bin all over floor and god only knows what has gone in his mouth. I know they are notoriously greedy but is there anyway I can stop him steeling/begging. I don't want to lock him in his crate everything I go out of room, he loves it and I don't want him to see it as a prison. Sorry but it's got to me today lol, so much mess :(

Mine is 12 (collie cross)
He still does it. I have got a babygate though, to stop him.
But if I forget, then he has a field day :)

Unfortunately, you seem to have a teenager! My springer x at that age shredded 96 vinyl gloves, 7 clean nappies, and 7 nappy sacks all within 5 minutes when I was in the next room. I had to take a photo of him surrounded by gloves looking pleased with himself - it was laugh or cry!

The next day he shredded the vinyl flooring in the passage (mid terrace house, passage runs front-back, if you see what I mean). Again, I was in the next room. Oh well, it needed replacing anyway.

He's 10 months now and can be trusted only slightly more. But like Daisyrain said - baby gates are the way to go.

Childmind really didn't want yet another. Oh well looks like I have to put up with it lol. Thank god for wine Grin

Of course, you then have to train him not to jump the gate - ours views them as a kind of exercise routine. We had to upgrade to dog gates and even then, if he's really determined .......

So today he is very very subdued can take or leave his food ?? He has done several poos? Should I visit the vets? Sad

I would ring them, not sure if it's standard for vets but ours are quite helpful over the phone.

Sounds like he may just have eaten something that was a little too ripe for his stomach but they'll give you symptoms to look out for and probably suggest you don't try to feed him for a little while to give it time to clear.

Poor boy. I'd love to say he'll learn from it...

Thank you. He is so quiet today just wants the odd cuddle and to be left to sleep. He had a small lunch in his tugajug and has now gone back to the sofa. My poor baby Sad
