hello all, we have a 10 month old brindle lurcher who we all adore but she is being very naughty at the moment, it started about 4 weeks ago, up until that point we could leave her for a couple of hours without any problems, she was walking well on a lead and we were getting her bounce under control but now she is a nightmare Grin

over the past couple of weeks she has destroyed my staircase by chewing out the spindles, eaten shoes, skirting boards, she is pulling really badly when on a lead and now she is getting stronger she is quite hard for me to control,
have thought about muzzling her but really not keen on the idea, we tried crate training as a puppy and she really didn't take to it, had major seperation problems and ended up hurting herself in the crate,

Help please, any ideas or suggestions welcome, is she just being a puppy teenager?
TIA

Not an expert but I would guess she would do herself less damage in the crate than left out of it by that list.

We rescued a two year old lurcher and she was like this, chewing everything, pulling on the lead etc. This only stopped after we were able to let her have a good run every day off lead. Do you let her off lead at all? How much exercise is she getting? Do you have a kong at all, they keep my lurcher busy filled with peanut butter. She still pulls on the lead but I am slowly training her by as soon as she pulls I stop walking and heel her. Then we start walking after a pause and repeat if she still pulls. Its a slow process and takes us a while to get to the field but she is getting the idea.

Oh also you shouldn't leave a muzzled dog unsupervised. Would you consider getting another dog for company, or fostering? We foster dogs (accidently kept one of them!), they keep my lurcher company as I think she had separation anxiety to start with, and they rescue pay for all food or vet bills.
