labradors and golden retrievers comparison....

I know that labradors can be prolific chewers of all manner of household furniture and items if not closely watched. We are getting (hopefully) a Golden Ret later this year and was wondering if the same applies to gr's. I know that all dogs a partial to a chew or two if bored, lonely, unattended etc. but everyone refers to labs as being psrticularly bad for this and I want ot know if grs are the same as they are all retrievers iyswim.

All dogs chew. It's a natural instinct which they cannot ignore.

It is managed by teaching them to chew the right things.

IME, Golden's chew as much as Labs - not surprising as they are bred to do the same sort of thing and need to master their bite in the same way. Both are bred to be soft mouthed, so need to work out how to get there.

In neither breed should it continue beyond puppyhood - about 18 months old.

Labs get a but of a pasting for all sorts of things which aren't exclusive to them - and in some cases, not even true.

Probably because there are so many of them!
