Picking up dog poo..........

We have been training our new dog to poo in the garden (not allowed out yet because of jabs). When he poos (on the lawn) we pick it up straight away and wash the area with the hose, is this enough?? Could DC's get sick if they walk barefoot where we have just cleaned or am I over-thinking this?!

Well if they walk barefoot then stick their feet in their moths then there is a risk but is that likely??

D'you know, I'm not a dog owner but I've often wondered while I've watched a large dog taking a dump on the grass and the owner patiently standing there with a bag...

Would it be possible to train a dog to let you slide a plastic carrier bag under their bottom before they pooh? Then you could just roll it up, the grass doesn't get soiled.

hahaha I wish

I actually pull the grass up too that has the poo on it. No more poo.

One of my yorkies likes to kick his away when he's finished (bloomin pest) I have to hunt it out or drag him away quickly when he's finished.

There is no way either of them are going to let me stick a bag under their ass Smile

Blush Grin I hadn't thought of the ones that do that energetic scrape-kick after .
I've seen plenty that stand there with an " And " look on their face, I could swear they've got one eyebrow raised.

70 that idea is completely sensible in theory but it's still made me snort with laughter! Grin

Koy that should be fine but I'd recommend avoiding garden poos if you can post-jabs by having walks twice a day. I think most dogs would rather not poo in their own garden so it should be relatively easy to do as if your dog knows he will be getting walks twice a day he'll probably hold on. Then you don't have to worry about missing any rogue poos (or poo-mines, as my DH calls them Grin )

My dog always has nice solid (but not constipated) poos that don't leave a residue.
