Hi

Our 13 month old springer spaniel is unwell.

She is seeming under the weather and has been sick a few times today.

On her morning walk she was running about OK but DH did say she kept sitting down towards the end.

She ate all her dinner and breakfast and did her usual dancing about when dishing it up. She is fed raw.

Whilst I don't want to hold back vet treatment I don't want to rush off down there to be told something that MN could tell me!

Shall we starve her for a day and then see how she is?

Is she showing any signs of pain?

Front legs out, chest down, bum in the air stretching?

The runs?

How is she generally? Apart from her walk?

Hi Daisy Grin

No hadn't noticed and of those stretching signs but will watch more carefully.

She seems just a bit quieter than normal, still had a manic five mins in garden chasing a ball.

She does seem to be panting more - mouth open tongue out.

She is drinking still.

The 'under the weather' combined with the being sick would bother me more. I have a dog who will happily vomit at the drop of the hat, but providing he is well in himself I am not concerned.

You know your dog best, it is very hard to say, if she keeps vomiting though and you have a feeling she is not right I would get her to the vet.

I would contact the vet - sickness is easier to treat but generally unwell and panting would concern me - it may be nothing but I would want to check it out. Dogs are very good at hiding how poorly they are and when you see symptons it can be quite serious. However often it is not!!! But the vet is the only one who can tell

Is it warm weather where you are? Could be the heat if he's a very active dog and not used to sunny days. Hottest day of the year so far here. My lab slept outside in the sun for an hour, must have overdone it because when I went out to him he was panting and looked quite ill so we went for a very slow walk to the river a few minutes away, he dived in and splashed around and was fine after.

Hi Alp Grin

Has she been sick again?

I would discount any sort of 'normalness' when racing round after a ball or when on a walk because from my experience a dog will do that even if they're about to drop dead.

What did she hurl? Was it undigested food or just grass and bile? Or has it turned into just bile?

The panting would concern me, along with her other symptoms. Is she keen to eat?

I havent been home this afternoon so have been relying on DH.

She has been eating grass but the vomit was her food.

I will check how she is when I get home and report backGrin

Well dog seems Ok!

No sickness willing to eat and being bouncy Smile

Thanks for all replies. Don't think I've ever posted about the DCs Blush
