My Basset having operation to see what's causing so much pain in her gut :(

Not a doghouse regular but hoping to get some support and words of optimistic wisdom please!

My 5yo basset has visibly been in lots of pain on and off all night so at 5am I decided enough was enough and took her to the emergency vet. They've ruled out bloat and pancreatitis and I just had a call saying the X-rays revealed something feint in her intestine and she seemed very uncomfortable when the vet touched it, so they're going to operate.

She's never had any surgery before other than when she was spayed and I'm feeling very anxious.

Any positive words would be gladly received, thank you.

I too have had a dog who had similar surgery - it is so very risky.

The shock and upset must be almost more than you can bear; eventually you will remember her for the love and fun you had together, but for now I expect you are heartbroken.

How awful for you.

Oh no this is terrible, was lurking and hoping all would be well.

Some dogs are extra special, we lost our es dog at six and it was awful.

I'm so sorry for you. I still cry about my girl that we lost 5 years ago. They make such an impact upon your life. At least she had 5 wonderful year with you and knew that she was loved. From one basset lover to another xxx
