dh just spoke to the vet after biopsy results. BC is 13 yrs and has it in his lymph node. I am so upset and worried. Vet has advised not attempting to remove but manage with pain killers.

How long do you think he has got?

There is some information here: this article
I have an elderly Staffie with Leukaemia. When he first became ill we were told the only options were to do nothing - short life expectancy, steroids - a bit of time to say goodbye, or chemotherapy - expensive and unpleasant with transfusions, regular blood tests etc. After a bit more thought our vet suggested steroids + oral chemotherapy with regular blood tests to monitor progress. We are now almost 3 months down the line and dog is happy and doing most of the things he has always done. He pootles about in the house and garden, gets up and down stairs well, but for some reason - and it may be psychological - he refuses to go for proper walks. It isn't very expensive treatment - £60 for exam and blood tests about once a month and about £25 for the medication and we are so pleased to have some extra time with him. From the contents of the article I wonder if this sort of treatment would be a possibility for your dog? I know the remission won't go on for ever but as we had only had him for just over a year when he became ill every extra month of quality life is a real bonus.

Thank you so much for replying. The article is interesting. I will chat with our vet but she thinks we just need to manage his pain and not try to treat. Sad
