I am thinking about getting a kitten but am not sure how it would work as I have avery good natured 4 year old female Jack Russell.
When out walking on the lead she will somtimes strain on the lead if she sees a cat but generally ignores them, and to be honest I've not noticed any cats in our garden but she does ignore the squirrels. ( unusual for a terrier I know)
Has anyone introduced a kitten into a a terrier household and if so how did it go?
Please be reassured that this is only a very vague notion at present and I will take MN advice on the matter Grin

We had young cats then got an airedale pup. A year later, what was now a very dog aggressive terrier would back off his own food bowl if cats decided they wanted it...

We had two more kittens and one more airedale from a pup. He grew up with the kittens and they used to greet him like a human, waiting for him to stand still then rubbing themselves on his legs. (then anyone else one the walk, then back down the line, then miaow at the dog to come back over for more leg attention. .. This went on for the ENTIRE walk)

So I think it's a very loyal and loving relationship. But I think the cats maybe need to be there first.

We had a cat chasing Scottie, and I'd given up hope of ever having a cat. My mum got a kitten and we introduced them - he basically spent hours with his ears up following the poor kitten everywhere. Obsessed, but very gentle. We then ended up with two kittens of our own, and he was marvellous with them, and they with him. Since then we've had a new dog, though the cats are not at all happy, and terrify our poor pup (who happens to be at least 10 times bigger than them!).

Terrier age 9 here and we got a kitten (he's now 11 and she's coming up for 2)

I was very very worried about him going for her - we introducted them slowly, she was segregated upstairs with a gate for a while, and once she got the run of the house we kept the gate for a while (she could get over / round the gate)

He was fine - totally fine, she was hissing and going for him like a bugger.

They are now totally 110% fine with each other and I often come home to find them curled up together in his crate.
