Paediatric Neuter/Spay

A few of our neighbours have recently acquired puppies that were spayed at 8/9 weeks by the breeders' vets. I have never heard of this but apparently it's the new recommended practice here (Canada). I always thought 6 months was standard? Is this something that goes on in the UK too? Anyone have thoughts on this?

Our pup came to us neutered at 8 weeks from the SPCA (also in Canada). They don't let any pets out of the shelter intact. He is a total cross breed so who knows what effect it had on his growth/character. He is a lovely dog though so we're not complaining.

I have to admit that's from a year or two ago now Grin Puppy pictures are just too sweet aren't they! Although one of the great things about our dog is that everyone thinks he is a lab pup, so they are specially friendly.

If you are interested in chatting to more Canadians / people living in Canada we've a thread going in Living Overseas. The more the merrier!
