How can I stop my dog being carsick?

Really just looking for advice on how to take my dog out in the car. he is now 14 months old and I can count on one hand the number of times he has been in the car because of his ability to vomit, pee, poo and slobber all over the back of it within 2mins of getting in! im sure i read to make sure they hadnt been fed or given a drink too close to getting in the car, but it honestly made no difference at all the last time he was in!
is there any hints or tips you can give us to help?
thanks in advance.

My grandparents found making sure dog couldn't see out of the windows helped i.e. in footwell. But suppose it depends if the motion causes it or the visual disorientation of flying scenery. Maybe try it but if no improvement ask vet for advice, there may be a medicine for it.

There is a tablet called Cerenia which can really help. There is evidence that you only need to use it a couple of times to break the cycle of car sickness.

We got tablets from the vets which you give the dog the day before you take them in the car.

Our first dog, a glorious red setter, used to be sick every car journey. Found this was overcome after a period of taking him on very short journeys to the park for a walk - think once he realised that every journey had a fun outcome he soon got better. Current dog was cured by putting her in her bed, either on the backseat between the DCs, or in the front footwell. She seems to benefit from the security, comfort and support this gives her- she snuggles down in bed and this stops her moving with the motion of the car. Hope find something that works as it's no fun!

Thanks for the replies! I thought I had already posted back with thanks but it seems to have gone! Anyhoo!
Boringnickname-that has been my solution, however dp has been chewing my ear of about it (its not him who has to clean the car btw!) And it would be nice to ge somewhere else for walks, even I'm beginning to get bored with the same park every day.
I think we'll try the footwell suggestion and short drives to begin with and see how we get on. I'm very aware that he has his boosters coming and we drive to the vet so over the next few weeks we'll try it out and then ask for the tablets if its not any better.

Thank you all again for the help!
