I have posted on a couple of threads about our rescue dog, aprox. 18mo now (although I suspect younger as she has grown a bit since we had her) Terrier X. She hasn't been socialised properly so is nervous of everything

She doesn't like strangers (she is only just getting used to my Dad who she has seen from Day1 & only recently fell in love with my Mum) but came from a multi (100+!) dog household so once introduced loves other dogs. She is completely in love with us now (me particularly) so is v affectionate once she trusts you.

We've had her for 8 weeks and in that time she has come on so much so I have bitten the bullet and am going to a trial training class tomorrow night Shock. The class was recommended to me by a colleague who had a rescue (but not a nervous one) and I have emailed the trainer to explain the situation which is why we are doing a trial. We have started her training and she will do sit 100% of the time, down but only for a sausage, come (most of the time, but haven't let her off much) so I think she will enjoy classes.

Anyone got any tips/been in similar siutation?

How did the class go? I hope you had fun. That is one multi-dog household that she came from! I guess it was a puppy mill or hoarder? My local shelter has several dogs in at the moment that came from a hoarder and they've had no socialization at all.

It was a hoarder she came from so is v wary of people (even walking past them if they are ignoring her) and was scared of the TV, hoover, washing machine, etc when we first got her although could open doors! Hmm

Training really well she was v v brave and did most of the exercises straight away except stay because that meant mummy tried to leave me but we haven't really practiced stay at home so didn't expect much from that.

I imagine she will become naughtier less well behaved at training when she gets more confident but we have signed up for another 6 classes (block booking rate) so we shall see!

That's excellent! I am sure the training classes will help boost her confidence too. Well done for doing so much to help her not be scared of everything! You have obviously gained her trust :).
