Worried about my black lab, suspected colitis?

Hi all. I am worried about my black lab who will be 3 in October. He has always loved his food and on Saturday he didn't finish it. He did finish it later but very unlike him. He did the same thing on Sunday and Monday and I also noticed he had diarrhoea and then what appeared to be normal stools but with lots of mucus and small bits of blood so I called the vet who told me over the phone he thought it sounded like colitis as I had also wormed my dog on the Friday so he seemed to think it was all related. I do feel bad because I was late worming my dogs by about 2 months so not sure if it because of my forgetfulness? I have been feeding him the Royal Canin gastro intestinal food which is specifically for dogs with sensitive stomachs and he is eating that fine, I have also had him on rice and chicken which again, he is eating fine but I have found that in the mornings his stomach makes loads of rumbling noises? It sounds quite gassy also? the noises seem to only happen in the morning? I feed both my dogs the Royal Canin Sensible dry food as my other dog had problems as a puppy with her stomach so not sure what could have caused my labrador to get this if it is indeed colitis? He doesn't seem out of sorts other than his stools are not right? I don't want to try him back on his dry food in case that upsets him again? Any advice would be much appreciated. I have arranged to take him to the vet tomorrow to check him also.

Newbie6 my dog gets colitis - a black lab and i feed him on autarky which is gluten free and for sensitive stomaches and it sorts him out - i'd see what the vet says though - it might be the worming - i'm no expert though - i do know that despite loving their food black labs can have sensitive stomaches

Let us know how he gets on.

Thanks crazynell. He seems to be back to his normal self today so not sure whether to take him to the vet still or not. He ate his dry food fine and his stomach is not making all the noises it was for the past few days so will keep an eye on his 'toilet habits'! and take a call from there.

thanks
