I feel so silly, but I miss my dog

I miss my dog so much. She was like my baby (I don't have children of my own) and I just wish I could see her one more time.

I would love another dog, but lifestyle changes (very demanding job) and a bereavement have meant I'm just not in a position to take on the responsibility. I have cats, but it isn't the same.

I am sure some of you will understand :) X

Oh Sweet, so sorry for your loss. Seems like you are going through a tough time. Hope things get better! Wish you all the best.

Not silly at all, I know exactly what you mean Sad.

My dog made me smile every single day.

hellymelly · 09/04/2012 23:33

My dog died this week. I am missing him horribly and know that I will always think of him. I do have small dds but I had the dog first and he was my lovely friend for 6 years before dd1 was born. Hopefully you will be able to share your life with another dog at some point, but I think many people here will understand how you feel. It is hard losing a dog, its such a special relationship to have.

sweetmoonbeam, have a . My Mum & Dad's 9 year old GSD was put down last night Sad. I was at their house and thought he seemed a bit quiet. Gut feeling. Emergency vet said she thought he had a massive tumour which was bleeding out.

I understand how you feel. I relaised earlier with shock it was nearly 6 years ago we lost our old boy. They are special when they are your first 'babies' aren't they

Sorry for your losses Sweet and Helly

sweetmoonbeam · 09/04/2012 23:52

Thank you. My dog was beautiful, a little mish mash of some spaniel and something else with floppy ears and such a sweet, pensive little face. She slept in my bed every night, licked frantically all of the time, barked at everything which drove me crazy but now when the post arrives I wonder why it's so quiet.

I've applied to rehome 2 cats from a local charity. I have one elderly gent who was also a rescue case (I try to take ones who won't get another home - I am a sucker for a hard luck story!)

I totally understand, and I'm in the position where we were able to get 2 more dogs (that we love just as much) after our min-pin died. I feel kind of silly, because we only had her 6 months before we had to have her PTS because her cancer was so bad. (Another sucker for hard luck story animals, which isn't necessarily conducive to getting an animal that lives a long time)

It's awful to lose a dog. I've had mine for 12 years and he is my baby, gives lovely cuddles and is really well behaved IF anything ever happens to him it will kill me. He's my boy x

I lost my old girl 4 weeks ago, and there is definitely a doggie shaped hole in our lives. Its the little things....like not having her hopeful smiley chops dribbling next to me as I carve the sunday joint. Not feeling her under my feet at meal times, not hearing that "woof" to let her go out, or come back indoors. ANd not hearing her snoring on the landing of an evening.

Plus I have no one to go walking with :(

We can only get another one in September, due to holiday plans - it wouldnt be fair to have a young pup in kennels.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

My 7 month old puppy died almost 2 years ago and I still miss him daily. I do have another dog now who I love dearly but that doesn't stop me missing Moby Sad

People that don't own a pet often don't understand how devastating losing a pet can be.

You will always remember your dog, even the most annoying habits she had (if any) will bring a smile to your face over the years.
