rescue poos and oodles

just an idle question... i wondered why you hardly ever see poodle crosses on rescue sites, with these being such trendy 'designer' dogs you might expect them to be surrendered quite often, no? I've been looking at MT and Dogs Blog for more than a year without taking the plunge, it just occurred to me you see many kinds of dog over and over but not so much these.
and why so many cavaliers? are they the most puppy farmed dogs because of their popularity?

I don't have first hand experience but my guess would be that because Many Tears take a lot of ex-breeders they have little rashes of pedigree dogs, so one week it will be Cavaliers, then Westies etc.

Small dogs (that aren't JRTs) often get rehomed relatively quickly and as the poodle crosses come in all shapes and sizes they are probably quite hard to identify. Also maybe they have resale value so owners sell them on rather than give them up to a rescue?

pro dogs direct have loads and loads of poodles (usually). Not all at once but they do seem to have more than most.

Doodles

I think it's because they're relatively new. Plus they're expensive. so like Mothership said, they're often sold on, rather than given up for rescue.

Breed rescues will have some. They're likely to be indentified as crosses of their most dominant breed rather oodly wot nots. Oodles and poos aren't breeds, just mutts the same as any other.

Cockerpoo here

Most poodles will go back to reputable breeders for re-homing and breed club rescue. There are some here if you are interested in a poodle. poodlesinneed.com/DOGSFORREHOMING.aspx

The labradoodle trust helps with doodle rehoming. That's where tom went.
