No not tipping the bus driver Grin

I want to take my 20 month lab on a bus , only a short journey , 20 mins tops.

I never did it with her as a pup Blush any advice - do you reckon I might have missed the boat on this one ?

go on the bus that is not too full

there is not lot of room on buses for dogs to sit under the seat .
have seen lab on the seats as there is no were else for them to go so if is wet take a something to put ton the seat

my dog enjoys it and does a hour bus ride ok does about 20 mins on floor 20 mins on seat on my lap ( but then he get too warm so back to floor) he loves it if he can see out the window. he is medium size dog that does not normally like people but loves them on buses gets loads of pats and there but be food on the floor.

just do it and then will see how good/bad it is

We take our lurcher on the bus all the time, she's as tall as a lab but not as wide/stocky. We had no idea if she would like it as she was a rescue dog and three years old, but we just chose a quiet time and she just took it all in her stride. On our buses there's room where the buggies go and tip up seats, so she sometimes flops out on the floor and if not she stands right next to me but I do hold her round corners. She likes trains as well, likes to spread out her long legs on the carpets. The worse thing that'll happen is you'll have to get off at the next stop and walk.

I might make this adventure later in the week . Thanks all .Smile

I completely misread your post as "I want to take my 20 labs on a bus" and nearly choked with laughter at the thought of 20 labs rolling along in a bus Grin

I've taken my dog on the tube and train and he's always taken it in his stride (although he sits on my lap when it's busy so he doesn't get squished). My major concern was that he wouldn't recognise the tube as an "indoor place" and might pee but so far no problems. Does she ride in your car? If so she'll be used to the motion of a moving vehicle so should be fine. Good luck!

Our whippet (rescue) has now experienced most forms of transport - he is very forgiving and we have 2 boys who love all forms of transport. So, in the year we've had him, he has been introduced to the bus (he loved it - several old ladies gave him treats), old-fashioned trams (he looked at us as though mad, sighed and put up with it), steam trains full of children (slightly better than trams) - this summer he will experience ferries. Tbh, whilst he sometimes looks at us as though mad, he generally just puts up with it. As others said, just try it on a quiet day.

confess i'm feeling a bit smug now about taking mine on buses and trains as a pup Grin Blush

just go for it - choose a short route and do a dry run on a day you don't really need to get anywhere as if worst comes to worst you can get off. buy a day ticket and if she/he is anxious practice getting on and off different buses and doing short trips on them.

reckon you'll be fine.

trains were quite funny when sadie was little as she would balk at climbing on or off so i'd be there with bags and a young child and a lab stuck in a doorway and would have to throw out the bag, plonk ds on the platform and then pick up the dog and carry her off Smile she was also totally anti going up stairs in train stations so we'd have to find lifts but on our last trip she even braved the stairs bless her and got on and off trains independently thank goodness.
