I have rehomed a gorgeous staffie boy, he's approx 4 yearss old, he keeps urinating in the house though! :( usually on plastic bags is there anything I can do to stop him?

Is he a recent addition to your family? If so, may be just settling in problems. Once he's bonded with you it may stop. If not, perhaps you need to go 'back to basics', taking him out to where you want him to go regularly and praising him when he does it. Is he castrated? Probably is if you re-homed him from a rescue but, if not, it may be a marking issue which could be resolved by castration. It may also be worth having him checked over by a vet to rule out infection or other medical cause. Hope you have a long and happy life with your staffie boy Smile

Thank you for your reply he hasn't been castrated yet could that be the problem? Also he has some humping issues would castration stop that aswell? He's pretty recent had him for 6 weeks but he's settled in brilliantly he's a lovely dog brilliantly trained its just the weeing in the house!

I'm not an expert on male dogs but I believe marking in the house can be an issue in un-castrated dogs. The other thing to do is to make sure you clean the affected area with a specialist cleaner (I think biological washing liquid does the trick) which leaves no trace of the urine smell - I think that dogs will want to pee in the same area so it's vital you clear the scent. Good luck and I'm sure he'll get there!

My older rescue dog did this in the first few weeks, I think he hadn't been properly house-trained in his previous life (cruelty/neglect case :() and it was just a question of getting in a routine of taking him outside at regular times, waiting for him to do a wee, and lots of praise and a treat when he did.

Does he do it when you're there or when you leave him alone? Sometimes it can be a separation anxiety thing.

It would probably be a good idea to have him neutered anyway (surprised it's not already done if he came from a rescue, they usually do adult dogs before rehoming), and it might help with this problem if he's 'marking'.
